Guitar related christmas gifts

Yesterday was the day old Saint Nicolas was very busy. What did members recived as gifts for Christmas that are guitar related? I tend to not ask for much and focus on the girls, but I actually got some neat stuff this year probobly because thats all I have talked about this last year. Well this and snowboarding but thats out for the early season. So I did not see a thread for this, if there is please consolidate into it.

The wireless system. I will try it, but I dont mind cords, they make me feel like a rockstar. Lol super silly. But these are cool, I powered them but I have not tried them yet.

I recived this stand attachment made by OnStage. I really like this gift, it can hold a phone or power pack and then the large items like a tablet.

A nice upgrade to my smaller individual guitar stands. This holds 7. I really needed this.

A good buddy of mine who has been playing guitar for a thousand years, came by and said he heard I was playing and droped off this prewired Fender SSS Texas special for me. So cool, very good friend.

I got a few other little things, a guitar blanket and a Fender shirt. I would say it was an amazing Christmas for my guitar accessories.

How did the rest of you come out? Any cool guitar stuff in your stocking from :santa:.

We didn’t exchange gifts with anyone this year.
However in past years, if that counts, I’ve got some pretty cool guitar related gear.

When I first got into guitar 4+ years ago I went looking for my taktell mini metronome. Alas, I never found it. So a couple years later the wife put me onto a taktell piccolo. It’s just a shade bigger than the mini and performs the same metronome function I needed.
I’ve got a cool tiedye capo one year.
I got some cool wood picks from the wife on another occasion. I didn’t think I’d like the wood picks. But they’ve grown on me and now that’s all I use. If I use a pick.

Probably got some other stuff over the years too, just can’t remember right at the moment.

Guitar related gear is a real good gift imho. All them things I listed above I use near daily.

I’m still in search of my mini taktell, 4+ years and I still ain’t found it. I know it’s in the house somewhere. I’d have never got rid of that. Got it when I was in jr. high band. So it’s near sentimental to me.
Someday I imagine I will find it…

It was a good year. :+1:
That Warm Audio chorus is flippin’ fantastic!! The preamp in it is so good that it is going to become an always on pedal in my chain.

I always liked the punk ethos, and Black Flag had one of the coolest logos out there, even if I only listened to a couple of their songs.
My missus knitted me a Red Flag jumper for Christmas-

I have been using wireless units like that for sometime much better than cables I have 8.5 mhz types

I’m really glad he did  (and hope he continues to do so)

Not a lot of submissions here.

I got a Strat kit. It looks like the body and neck are done fairly well. Electronics are pretty low- budget - and the soldering - oh wow. If one of my technicians would have handed me work this poorly performed, they would have heard a lecture from me. At least that is easy for me to fix.

The body is 3-piece, and the three wood grains are poorly matched, so I am thinking a solid color is the way to go. I like the traditional tobacco burst, but I think I’ll go black. I have a great deal to learn about finishing wood. I also need to figure out how to get a matte finish on the back of the neck.

Fret sprout seems really low and I will not have a lot to clean up if it doen’t move much more. Tuning machines are tight, but have more backlash than I would like. Low concern there though.

I also received a few electronic parts for my tube amp design. I have been planning this since October and think I am close to assembling it. The metal work to create the chassis is the biggest hurdle for the moment. I have nearly all the rest of the parts other than maybe better pots for the controls, and a final decision on how to implement the power supplies for the various stages.

I have a couple tools to order, but I have plenty to keep from practici… uuh, out of trouble for a couple months.

So Santa (with a little help from myself) brought me a Boss Tremolo, TC elec skysurfer (reverb), TC elec Delay (the prophet) and a Elec Harm Big Muff PI. (distortion and blues driver were already on the board)

If you look close enough, you’ll see that the board has no more space and the powersupply won’t fit underneath the board…
So wich board do i get so i can at least mount a onespot underneath? And have a bit more “real estate” for my pedals?

I’m leaning towards using two boards, one for the wet effects and one for the dry. This is one 12.5" x 22" and I thought for sure when I bought it that it would be big enough, and it is, for my wet pedals, or my dry pedals. Not both.

So I guess my rule of thumb is, buy twice what you think you’ll need?

Am I the only one who has no idea what wet and dry means when referring to guitars? It’s certainly not intuitive.

Dry = clean signal minimal fx
Wet = Heavy fx especially distortion and overdrive.

Aka Clean & Dirty

Mrs Santa bought me a Spark Go. Didn’t need it as I have a Katana but fun for moving round the house.

Okay, I can understand that, but then why would there be an entire pedal board dedicated to “dry?”

I own zero pedals of any kind, so . . .

Santa brought me a Boss TU-3 tuner pedal that I’ve been wanting forever after trying one at a friend’s house a while back. I then proceeded to spend like an hour on Christmas re-doing my board

I swear I’m not trying to turn this thread into a “show is your pedal board” one , but this is the current state of mine with the tuner added in. I have a large Fender board that was given to me as a gift a couple years ago and I still have quite a bit of left space on it. It has a mount on the underside for a power supply. It also came with a travel case. Very happy with it.

There is no intent behind my use of two boards vs one other than convenience. It’s easier to buy another board of the same size than it is to sell this one in favor of a single, larger board. Probably easier to use too rather than trying to step over two rows of pedals instead of just one.

One reason to differentiate between wet and dry effects is if you intend to use more than one amp, say in a true stereo rig or in a what is called a wet/dry/wet setup. A w/d/w is where the wet stereo effects like delay and chorus are sent to left and right channels and the dry overdrive, distortion, and fuzz portion of your single chain is routed to a center channel amp without any of the wet effect applied to it.

If you are into any DIY or stuff you could try something like what @BHopson did in the thread i listed below. I think he did a fantastic job and its super customizable. I need a pedal board myself. I did like the exapndable ones that Justin was talking about a couple of months ago.
