Thanks! I turned the mic up as much as I could and the instrument down this time… one day it’ll be right maybe😆
The balance was fine, it just sounded like the guitar was not going through an amp. Which I think you may have spoke about before and its been a long day. But as I said sounding good.
Maybe it’s my amp? When I bought my chinese strat off Amazon back in December which I have since upgraded, I also bought a very cheap amp (didn’t want to spend a bunch of money not knowing if this was going to stick). The other day I was wondering if it might be shorting out or something. Its probably wore out and I need to upgrade my amp too. Thanks for the feedback on the playing. The quick C chord to D chord is tricky and I still cant get my index finger down in time really but its still a C so it sounds ok. Im gonna keep practicing this song bc I really like it. I hope to be able to add a solo in there one day bc there’s a ton of space for it (the Nicolette Larson version has a saxophone solo that I could work on transcribing or come up with my own) and it would really enhance/add some variation.
Sonyal
Another fine performance. I’d echo Toby @TheMadman_tobyjenner: something’s not right with your amp set-up; your guitar sounds as if it’s unplugged. Look forward to hearing your next performance.

Aww that was a great rendition of Nicci’s song. Its sounds like the guitar sound is down. I would try posting in the equipment forum describing your set up maybe some photos and samples those guys are really good and would be able to give tips about mic location and other stuff. I can tell your voice is very nice and should come through. . But of course you are playing guitar also and you want that to also part of the “act” so balenced. Great video. Well played its certainly a song from my childhood
Nicci was a great singer and she had many different faces to her music. She lived in the bay area for a long time and was friends with Linda Ronstadt. She also did a ton of work for a number of years before she got her break. I rememeber when she died, she was really young still, and my mom was devastated.
Lovely vocals and great guitar. Just got to sort out the amplification. As the others said, it sounds unamplified.
Super vocal Sonyal and the others have mentioned the guitar audio.
My only other comment would be to get out of the habit of watching your fretting hand so much. Of course you need to look occasionally.
Good stuff, well done.
Ahh, yes, as others have written–vocals now come through cleanly and are a pleasure to listen to.
Maybe bypass your amp for the time being and use just Scarlett and the DAW? (what do I know?–not much!).
Sonya, you’re inspirational–I gotta practice more…
Bruce
Thank you Bruce. I just want to play I need to take a day off work to figure out the hardware and software part of all this. I’m glad you liked it!
Another nice performance Sonyal, well done keep it up cheers HEC
Great vocals, Sonyal. I love Nicolette Larson. So sad she passed away young. I have her song “ Angels Rejoiced” on my Set List. Have you heard it? I look forward to hear from you again.
Hi Momma, you have a really great sense of time…and so smooth. Your voice is great and your playing is none too shabby either. Looking forward to your songs when you get the balance right.
Thanks!
Thanks so much. I have not heard that one! I heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago. It’s such a good song and I love her voice. I will definitely be checking out more of her stuff.
