I am down with that. And l love the wall art. Thanks for posting.
A bit of an introduction would be nice too.
Congrats on being able to sing and play at the same time ^^
Your playing seems good but is your guitar plugged into an amp ? the sound seems weak for an amp
Thank you. I actually do use an amp. It seems loud to me in my ear and I worry that it will drown out my voice. Maybe I should try turning the volume up and trying to sing louder? I have bought a few mics from amazon and have returned them bc they donāt seem to work with my phone or laptop. I watched Justinās video about how to record videos but I really donāt understand the equipment heās talking about and when Iāve tried to buy the little dohicky that you need to bring the sound from the amp to the mic, its still not right and Iāve had to retun those too. Any recommendations on a reasonably priced, decent mic thatās pretty user friendly/plug and play?
I own a Chromium mic : Mackie EM-Chromium ā Thomann UK
Its great cause you can plug the guitar directly into the mic so the sound of the guitar is good , but just like you in your video , I find that the sound of the mic itself is weak ā¦
Have you tried a scarlett solo or anything like that ? its easy to use
Anyway if you have an amp and your happy with it thats cool
Im maybe just too used to hear guitars being plugged directly into computers thats all ^^
your song was great ^^
Gonna try that brand and see if it makes a difference. Ive got a whole new respect for all the singer/guitar players out there who make it look easy. Thanks for the feedback
who makes it look easy and with an good sound
I wonder how they do it
but you were able to sing and play and thats awesome !!
its not easy to do it
Sonyal
You played well: your strumming was consistent and chord changes seemed tidy. I agree with Deborah @GrumpyMac: your guitar sounds as if itās not amped; may be worth experimenting with different settings. It may also be worth trying a different strum pattern in some part of the song: your performance would be enhanced by some variations to the dynamics. Encore!

Another good performance: your singing on this one is even more soulful than in āFall for Youā. You should try to hold your guitar more upright, with its back flat against your body. Very enjoyable.

Thanks for those suggestions. Iāll probably try to redo that one one of these days since I changed chords before it was time near the end (smiled it off and kept it movingš). Iāll see what other strumming patterns I can do. For me right now thats tricky bc I strum according to the rhythm and it feels like thereās only one way to do that for a given song. Thanks again.
Will do, ty! Its funny bc my mom had given me some feedback that in previous videos i sounded like I was holding back so she told me to really feel/get into the song so I would sound more full or something. So thats what I was trying to do with that one.
Welcome to the Community, Sonyal.
Enjoyed your recording, sparse guitar and soulful vocal.

Just listened to Fall For You, most enjoyable, Sonyal.
I suggest you sit a little further back from the camera. As a guitar learning community we do like to see the whole guitar and observe the playing as well as listening. You may get some helpful feedback if you do that.
Thank you. Just did the intro and will be sure to follow the rulesš
Your performance was a pleasure to listen to Sonyal, where are you in your guitar journey?
Started Justinguitar in Jan/Feb this year. Iāve stuck to the course for the most part and moved along when I thought I was ready to advance. Had to find songs that I liked playing to keep things more interesting for me along the way as Justin suggested. I am at the beginner grade 3 mod 15 but have been feeling less engaged with the course since the end of grade 2. Reason being mostly is that although Iāve move on in the lessons, I want to improvise and get proficient at playing by ear bc I feel like only then will I truly feel like a real guitar player- but I wonder if Iāll ever get there. To that end Iāve been focusing on the scales that the lessons have gone over so far C major and A pentatonic? (Blues scale). I practice those and whatever song I want to learn to play. Also, right now I want to be more proficient at finger strumming bc that has been a real struggle for me so Iām facing it head on with some songs that feature it (hence the Session 32 song and and one much harder that Iāve been working on for several weeks). That was probably more info than you wanted to read through but thatās where I amš«

Ouch ā¦
Grade 1 is 6 months worth of practice
Grade 2 is 1 year worth of practice
doing it in just 6 month is rushing ā¦
Im not telling this to criticise you but the more you ll rush , the less you ll be able to play the technics you ll encounter in the near future mostly because you wont have build the necessary muscles in your fretting hand ( and all the little muting technics you can do with your strumming hand )
Learning guitar is a lifetime journey , is not a race
take your time !
For example I always try to be able to play the technics I learn in at least 2 songs for each module
it takes time !
Build a solid foundation before rushing to lead guitar
Wow, I didnāt realize I was rushing! Iāve never seen/heard any guidance on time intervals as it relates to the course modules. Unfortunately, I only have one speed when Iām learning something new and then when you combine the fact that I am a little obsessed
and I so enjoy the instrument now. I even pick up a different display model off the wall and practice while my kids are taking their 30 min lesson at the music store. I do feel that I have gone back and rewatched several lessons as they make more since to me now the more that I practice different songs and read more articles from guitar world and other outlets that are filling up my newsfeed these daysš Its been a long time since I could say what it is I liked to do for fun. My likes have been centered around whatever it is my kids liked. I havenāt had a chance to remember what it is that I liked. Guitar has changed that for me to where I now have something that I enjoy so much personally. I really love it. I appreciate you trying to help me out. Thereās this excitment thatās driving me every since I learned to play and sing my first song.
That was a solid performance Sonyal. Being able to sing and play at such an early stage of your learning journey is a real bonus, took me decades, so well done on that.
As others have said, try and frame the video so folks can see both hands and the guitar. Plus the guitar was well down in the mix.
You mentioned Thomann. They do a great range of affordable audio interfaces, for example canāt go wrong with Behringer if you just starting out. Youāll pay more for āhouseholdā names like Focusrite but wonāt get any extra bang for you bucks. And if you are playing electric through an amp a basic dynamic mic will suffice for vocals. Thomannās own brand T-Bone is cheap as chips and will do all you need.
Welcome to the community.
Something to consider though I know its early days.
