Back in the mid-70s I was playing guitar, I’d saved up some cash and I was determined to get myself a Martin. I went to a big music shop in Sydney with a friend and tried some, but there was another obscure guitar there as well, for much the same price. It felt great to play and we both thought it sounded better, so I ended up buying that instead. It was made by Michael Gurian.
Years later I’d stopped playing guitar and was learning violin and I needed money for a much better bow so I sold the Gurian. I’m kinda wishing now that I kept it - I’ve given up violin, gone back to guitar, and I find that Michael Gurian is a legendary figure in the world of guitar making.
Anyone out there playing a Gurian? Is it as good as I remember?
