My wife and I just hosted a soul enriching weekend with a bunch of our music friends. Special mention goes to Boris the bass drum filled with bubble wrap and the fantastic percussion his owner provided. There were 22 friends either sleeping around the house or in tents and caravans, life is very good. Music happened from the time they arrived and woke up till 2 am Saturday and Sunday mornings. Good thing we live in the country where only the cows were kept awake.
And… Wasn’t it so that cows like music? So you actually did them a favour
Looks like a amazing weekend, Tony
Looks like great fun!! Nothing like musical friends, a drum kit and someone to play it to pass the time. . .
So cool!
although it’d be nice to have some audio-visuals to go with the post, part of me thinks it’s even better if folk were too busy playing/ enjoying themselves to start recording for social media
That’s what it’s all about. Playing music with friends!
Those might come! I was too busy playing and hosting to record anything but Joy, a 77 year old delight of a woman who only started playing guitar 4 or so years ago was filming everything, she’s such fun to have as part of the group, her positive energy is wild and she’s pinching herself that she’s finally a muso after all these years. She lead several songs very well.
I forgot to add that Boris won the cutest attendee prize, not bad for a wombat!
Must have been a wonderful weekend! What a great location to come together enjoy music. Must be such a fullfilling experience!
Sounds like an amazing weekend! And fun!
Joy sounds cool, and lives up to her name.
Do you have a pic of Boris?
Sure, you’ll see him in the pic above, he’s a large water bottle filled with bubble wrap. Made him the perfect volume for an acoustic gathering as compared to a traditional bass drum. Here he is in action and close up.
Ah! I was wondering if that was Boris
He is indeed very cute! And impressive!
