Happy 1st Community Birthday!

@JustinGuitar
Justin, as one of your more mature students (I’ll be 69 later this month) I’d like to thank you for adding a new dimension to my life.

I started learning guitar in February 2018 and joined the ‘old forum’ in March the same year. Without your original ‘classic’ beginners course and the help and support of the members of this wonderful Community, I wouldn’t have gained the skills I now have and which I intend to develop for as long as I can.

Thank you.

I will join in with the thanks and appreciation! The entire guitar course has been excellent and exceptional, really.

This is reflected by the community thanks to the original vision of @JustinGuitar, excellent moderating from @LievenDV, @Richard_close2u, and @DavidP, all the active, supportive, thoughtful and kind regulars and interesting, growing newer members.

I honestly felt a little surprised that the new community is only 1 year old. I remember well the transition from the older forum (which was still pretty special). It has been settling in well and gracefully.

Even though I have been working more with classical and styles of playing that are less represented in the JustinGuitar course, I still feel like this is my basis, support and encouragement.

Thank you all!

Thanks, Justin for everything you and your team have done in creating this incredible community website. A great place to learn, share, grow, meet people and build friendships (even if we never meet in person). I’ve so much enjoyed the process since 2015 and still hanging there.

Thanks again,

Pam

Thank you for all you’ve given us, I can’t even believe such robust learning and community resources are available for something as wonderful as guitar music, but you and your team make it possible. And thanks to the community for being so kind and supportive and understanding and helpful. It’s really quite critical to success for some of us.

Haha, good one Justin. I’ll sing Cats in the Cradle today and dedicate it to you!

Seriously, thanks heaps for your lessons, I’ve been playing for over 10 years now and got my start at justinguitar. Yay. I tell everyone about it. It’s brought such joy into our lives.

We decided a long time ago not to hold that against you. We’ve been pretty good at free-ranging. :slight_smile:

Thanks for keeping the lights on and for the extra juice we get on youtube, Facebook, etc when we use #justinguitar. You 'da man!

Congratulations Richard on 14 years. :partying_face:

Some terrific tutorials again this last year to add to the amazing collection. All of which I’ve bookmarked of course. You have a great knack for cutting through with new concepts and knowledge.

Appreciate your continued dedication and sharing of knowledge, which has been a great benefit to myself, and I’m sure to many others. All the best.

Cheers, Shane

Hey all you great people on this Community!
A year already since we moved alread!

In times when typical “fora” cease to exist and die a silent death, this Community only gets buzzin’ some more. In times of “social media” growing less social than they are meant to be, people here share their progress, concerns, victories and ponderings.

In these years the Community grew to a mature and most of all very safe space where it certainly isn’t only the the mods alone that deserve the credits for keeping it clean and fun.

It’s you guys that deserve merit;
The solid pack of regular and even some that have “become part of the furniture” as we say make sure we share the same spirit.

Thanks to @Richard_close2u and @DavidP as well. Our trio of Musketeers balances reason with humanity in a delicate matter! :wink:

In March my account on the old one will be 16 years old.
I certainly hope I can match that streak here as well! :smiley:
I was hanging around the website for a while before trying the forum.

I went to search my first posts…oh did I had little experience (and gear) back then :smiley:

I wrote in the “introduce yourself” section:

What are your goals for the future? :x
-constant learning and exploring,
-maintaining the right ratio in inspiration, frustration and results !keeping it fun but challenging
-of course everybody as a little or big ego; mine asks a bit but not much:be recognized as a guitar player. not as being famous but more in like someone answering (without hesitating) with my name if someone asks “which person you know plays quite a bit of guitar?”

Reading this again, I’m quite happy with where I am today!
I never imagined back then I would even SING! ha! take that 16y-younger-me! :smiley:

ALL THANKS to this great place because Justin and you guys are what made it “easy” for me to grow and enjoy every bit!

That’s why I will always be here, because everything has always been here for me all the time!

Have a great New Year;
I will talk soon about my (and your) goals for 2023!

I joined Dec 2021 so this space is all I know. I focused on just the lessons in the app and really didn’t know what the community really was. I moved to the website instruction and 3 months later I made my first post in AVOYP on an iPhone and then learned so much from the team here and other members as to how to put my gear together with software to better record and then an Open Mic in April and off I go! To say this community is helpful to one’s guitar journey is a huge understatement. Such a great resource that is instructive, positive, and provides next level support to your guitar journey regardless of skill level.

The time, energy, and effort is truly appreciated for both the team that runs it and the members that provide the content of their journeys. A salute from North Carolina!… Rod

Yay! 1 Year old! Happy anniversary new community forum! :star_struck:
I wasn’t on the old one so can’t comment on that but this one inspires me every day to pick up my guitar and become a better player.
Thank you Justin, Lieven, Richard, David and all the wonderful members that make this the fantastic place it is! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hi Brian,

I expected more like this from you…

I see more funny stuff, but then it gets way too nice ( or really bad), I can come up with a lot in my head now :joy: :innocent:

Many many happy returns!

Having read Justin’s Birthday message and all the other replies, I find it has all pretty much been said. So, loud and proud …

@LievenDV Boy oh boy, Lieven, the list of things light years beyond my 6y-younger-me’s imagination is long indeed. It begins with playing reasonably regularly for 6 years, and so it goes on … playing B7, C7, and G7, home recording and sharing on AVOYP, original songs, meeting Justin (maybe one day in person, who knows, never say never), friendships, collaborating on productions with friends made here, Open Mics (here and in person), being a mdoerator (one of the easiest jobs on the planet, given the ethos of the Community) and I’m with you Lieven … singing (a bit) thanks to Chris Liepe, a Justin in the world of singing.

So keep on keeping in, place no bounds on your imagination, cause if you stick at it, steady and methodical, at your own pace (my is more tortoise than hare, also lacking hair under the hat) and you will learn and accomplish more than you imagined when first picking up the guitar and commencing with the first lesson.

Happy 1st anniversary of this version of the Justin Guitar Community! Besides the enhanced experience that this new community site provides (according to the posts I’ve read from the time of the transition), its strength comes from the already stablished community of the “old forum” that created a dynamic that this version of the community with the participation of many new members (like me) continues. Thank you Justin @JustinGuitar for setting up this wonderful guitar learning environment, and Lieven @LievenDV, Richard @Richard_close2u, David @DavidP, and the other members of the team for helping to keep it running.
