Until recently when one of our local gigging musos sang this, I had forgotten it, so I was inspired to give it a go but also following some tips based on my previous AVOYP post I made some adjustments to the Fx levels, just reducing them a bit. Hopefully it sounds ok
Played around a bit with Resolve too just to add some movement and interest in the video hopefully.
Certainly happy to hear anyones tips tricks or otherwise
Bravo Craig.
I had forgotten it too and wouldnât have been able to name it if I heard it again unannounced.
A solid performance, very smooth all round. I like the random-roving camera work ⌠does that thing have a mind of its own!! haha
Beautifully done Richard, wondering how you got the acoustic guitar to sound so well on the video; was it an acoustic/electric, or did you run it through an audio interface? I didnât see a mic on the guitar to pick up the sound. Looked like there may have been an audio interface on the desk behind you?
Thanks Pam & Molly for listening and the very kind feedback.
Hi Jim, thanks mate. The AI in the background was not being used.
The guitar is using the magnetic soundhole pickup that you can see. This goes through a TC Electronic Impulse unit and into the Nux Amp/PA, a little bit of reverb and chorus is added in the Nux then guitar & vocal is out via USB-C to the phone for recording. Hope that makes sense mate.
Thanks again Lieven, apreciate you listening.
I think I can hear what youâre describing, I have actually been trialling 3rd above and 4th below in place of the 3rd & 5th above used so far.
Excellent stuff, Craig
Youâve squeezed all the low-hanging-fruit-juice out of this baby, and then added some nice garnishing yourself.
Recognised neither name of song nor artist, but once you started singing, I was: âOh, yeah, I remember and like this one!â
If you are looking for nit-picking positive criticism, you might want to place the camera as close to your lyrics/chord sheet as possible.
Some folk say you should memorise everything for a performance. I disagree.
However, if your prompt is in the direction of the camera, it often looks as though you are looking directly at the viewer, giving the impression youâre âcommunicatingâ with us
Well, thanks heaps for listening Brian, and yes I donâ t post just to get a pat on the back and a âwell doneâ so appteciate your input.
I have aligned them as you metioned in the past and then went away from it I even think about prior to recording so thanks for the boot in rear to actually do something about it
Thanks Gordon, appreciate you listening and the feedback. Info like this is important to me as I am just feeling my way with the sound at the moment and half the time question my own ears
If you have 5 mins to explain what it is you are hearing or some more details, Iâm sure it would go a long way to helping me with my setup
Hi Craig. Iâm a very simple AVoYP poster so probably shouldnât comment on otherâs fx. Iâm just not wild on artificial vocal harmony. Hey, what do I know.
