Hello (again) from Aidan in Belfast

I think I originally joined the forum sometime in 2020 when I decided, like many others, to take up learning the guitar during summer lock down. I don’t think I was majorly active on here, but I learnt how to set up a homemade recording system from the techy folks on here and I even uploaded a video of myself playing, I think it was Sloop John B!

I practiced for a year before moving to London in September 2021 to study for a masters degree in economics. Following that I was lucky enough to get a job with a global firm here in Ireland and moved back in the summer of 2022. I started practicing again following the year’s break and have been making decent progress, although still very much a beginner!

I’m determined to get good at this thing and for the past month or so I have been taking weekly lessons from a guitar teacher which have been going well! So, I’m very excited to immerse myself back into learning guitar and hence why I’ve returned to this great community.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning from the community!

Aidan

Welcome back. There are many stories here where people have taken up the guitar only to stop and start again. I hope it sticks this time as it’s a very rewarding past time once you get properly hooked.

Hi Aidan - great choice to continue the guitar journey, and also to get back to this community. It seems you are all set up well after completing your study and settling back in Ireland.
By the way, I have a history with Ireland myself, I lived in Dublin for several months, and also did a lot of travelling throughout the country at that time. I really love the country. That was during the 90s, but I’ve been back several times since, even in the north and in Belfast.

Looking at your login name it now makes me wonder where Aidan 1-4 are hiding in this forum, but don’t take me too serious

Hi Aidan,

Welcome to our group. We’re excited to have you. I look forward to hearing your guitar playing samples when you are ready check out Our record yourself and progress section. I’ve been doing this since 2020 as well after failing miserably years before. It made more sense than watching the tele in lockdown lol. You can succeed if you put the effort. We’re all cheering you on. I love the support here from everyone. Best of luck on the journey,

Jeff from California

Hi Aidan. Welcome back to JustinGuitar and the Community. I’m arriving late to the hello and welcome party.
If you need any help with a lesson specific question or with any general guitar learning question then do not hesitate to ask. There are many good folk here who will happily offer help and encouragement to those coming up behind them on Justin’s Beginner Courses. They embody and carry the pay-it-forward ethos we have nurtured for many years in our community. There are many old hands too who have years and (hopefully) a bit of wisdom they can bring as they give their support to those hitting the road blocks - which we all do.
Just ask if you need anything.
Cheers
