Hello from Antje. Learning the electric guitar at 39 ✌

Hi there, the name’s Antje (or Angie).

I’m 39, my parents bought me an acoustic guitar together with a how to learn guitar book when I was 14 and I stopped trying to learn the guitar shortly after I got it because self-teaching is not my forte and my parents couldn’t afford lessons with 3 children around.

The desire to play electric guitar stayed throughout my life and since Christmas is coming up, I decided to get one as a gift for myself. I’ve been using justinguitar + the app for a couple days now and I’m having fun learning the A and D chord.

My town also has 2 music schools and I’ll sign up for in-person lessons in the coming year to see how this will go. See ya around!

Welcome Antje!

I also started at 39. I took piano lessons when I was about 8 and I hated it, so I had convinced myself that I had no musical ability until I finally got my first guitar

Electric is SO much fun. You’re going to love it. Good luck with the in person lessons and feel free to reach out to the community if you ever need help with anything :grinning: :guitar:

Hi Antje ,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun :sunglasses:

I’m guessing that you live in the Netherlands or at least your parents, is that correct?

Greetings,Rogier

Hi Antje, nice to meet you! Have lots of fun!

Welcome to the community Antje !

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Close enough, we’re all German. It’s a Dutch name that’s also used in Germany (though definitely not as common nowadays as it was when I was born).
