I’m Alex (36) and this will be my 3rd (and hopefully successful) time where i try to learn to play the guitar.
As i have started before my entry in beginner grade 1 was a bit easier but soon i am hitting my arch enemy, the barre chords
I’m really happy with the beginner course so far and will do my best to keep it going this time.
I have and old classical guitar (some Clifton) and an Yamaha Pacifica from my last try and i would say about my self that i have a very wide range of genres i like in music but i tend to rock/metal most times. But i would never want to miss a good fingerpicked song either
Welcome to the forum. Finger picking is what brought me to the guitar. Hang in there, the reward is so very worth it and while it seems a long ways away when you start, after you make it you’ll be amazed in 5 years at how short the time was.
Try to make practice part of your daily routine. Just 15 minutes a day is all you need to progress.
I do give my best to make my practice almost daily. A structured routine was definitely missing in my last attempts. I was just learning this and that and practice a song here or there but that didn’t worked out for me
Hello Alex & Welcome!!!
I wish you much success with lots of fun along the way!
Fun is key… as long as it’s making you smile to play, you’ll never stop!
Good Luck!!!
Hi Alex, welcome to the community. I wish you success in your third attempt to learn the guitar. Don’t let the barre chords hold you back. There are lots of other techniques to master on the guitar, including fingerpicking. Have fun learning and playing songs and practicing consistently and you will eventually master barre chords.
Hello Alex and welcome to our Community! Stick with the Guitar and it’ll be your successful attempt…it is indeed a lifelong journey and we do learn to build more and more confidence along the years… I hope you’ll find some good company among us. I see you’ve started a Learning Log already: well done! It really is a powerful tool to help us going…sometimes I think I would feel lost without mine!
