Hello everyone!
A bit behind on this part of the experience here, been on for a month or so. I am retired now and getting reacquainted with my long-neglected guitars. Played a lot in my youth, then went to work, marriage, kids, etc. and played less and less.
Thus far I am working on breaking old sloppy habits that affect playing. Things like death grip on neck and fretting (sore fingers) and cheater things like laying a single finger across 3 strings to make an A chord. So far things are going well. Got a few things corrected and working on more.
No real goals beyond personal entertainment and hopefully trying to get grandkids interested. I have already gotten a fair amount of info and feedback from the practice and lesson discussions.
Agree w/others.
But take it further.
Continue with that 1 finger A chord. Yer gonna find a whole bunch of use for that move.
Also practice it with using any of your four fingers.
I’m finding that as I continue to play, using that notion opens up a whole bunch of new chords/ideas. It leaves three fingers free to be doing something else. Plus, the notion don’t just apply to a A chord. There’s other chords that can be played very similar. With that one finger.
Great your getting back into the sceen. It’s a bunch of fun making music. Ya found a great place to land to learn and talk some guitar with others!
Welcome to our Community Brian! It’s great to read you’re enjoying your guitar journey! Personal entertainment seems to me the best of goals! Thanks for your introduction and for sharing your enthusiasm with us.
