Hello from Doney in Worthing

Hi , My name is DONEY. I live in worthing. I am new to the community but has been learning from Justing guitar on and off for a long time. (Mostly on youtube). I am still a beginner but decided to it properly.
I love fixing electric guitars. I have 2 Squiers.
I am planning to do the course from the beginning and progress on to the Theory lessons at some point.

Thanks Everyone for the warm welcome!
Yes surely I will update my progress and also if I struggle !.

Hardest bit is finding time for the learning as I have a toddler who just love the guitar more than me! He is 13 months old but already have his own Ukulele.

I went through the Grade 1 because I have already finished that while I was studying from youtube.

I haven’t been properly practicing with a metronome but think its best to make metronome my best friend, as Mr. Justin suggested and I am struggling in that department to be honest.

I already know the minor/(major ) pentatonic scale positions and pretty much the whole fretboard but don’t know what to do with it to be honest.

Thanks and happy learning everyone!

The metronome is a nice little helper. I got a mechanical one since I prefer their sound over an app. But an app will do just fine, too.
You can easily bring it into many other exercises. I’m currently combining the “finger style” practice with the “C major scale” practice while using the metronome to enforce the rhythm of the change. It took me some getting used to moving both hands independently and in sync with the rhythm. But now I also keep cranking up the speed to help with dexterity.

Hello Doney.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the message!
Sorry it took a while to reply. Even though I saw your email I thought it was an automated email and didn’t fully read it and got a bit busy with life and work.

Thanks for the welcome and I have progressed a lot since. And I am happy to be part of the community.

Convey my regards to Jus! He is making the world a better place along with you guys!

Thanks,

Doney

Hi Roger,
Thank you!

I have gotten a lot better with Rhythm and strumming. Even though I was playing for a long time( haven’t progressed from beginner stage though) but practicing with metronome really made a difference .
That along with some music theory has been keeping me engaged. I have also attended some of the live streams done by the vintage and blues club and they were great.!

Thanks,

Doney
