Hello from Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada

Welcome to the community, Brian! Your background surely will give you some advantages when it comes down to rhythm playing, but also being experienced in recording will help a lot, I guess. Have some fun while learning.

Welcome Brian, good you found another way to express your musicality, this time with the guitar. Reading about your finger issue I would think than you can develop a muscle memory of where to put it and how much to press against the string without the feedback of feeling your fingertip against the string. I would be careful not do overdo it by pressing harder than needed to ring the string clear as you do not have probably a pain warning to help you avoid so.

Hello Brian, welcome to JustinGuitar and this fabulous community.
Switching from drums should mean that the fundamental aspect of holding solid rhythm comes to you no probs. Rhythm holds up chords and melody, without rhythm music falls apart.
I drove to Las Vegas on a US road trip once, approaching from New Mexico and Nevada en route to LA. It was dark desert and I could see tgeiggts of Vegas from miles and niles and miles distance away. It was unreal. I didn’t stop, just passed through to arrive in Death Valley for sunrise.
