Hi, I’m GG from Luxembourg. Back in uni, I got the cheapest electric guitar I could find to play Rocksmith. I started jamming with a friend, but never put serious time nor effort into actually learning how to play. Then life happened.
Now, a good 10 years later, what I lack in time I have gained in discipline. I bought a cheap strat-style and an amp to be able to play with the PC off. I started Justins Beginner Course, and this time my goal is actually learning instead of just goofing around. Hopefully at some point my schedule will become open enough that classes/tutoring become an option.
I’m not really interested in playing in a band or “publicly” at all, it’s more about something to enjoy in my fortress of solitude, while it’ll be of course nice to have my kid grow up in a household with music.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.
Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
Welcome to the community GG. I’ve been to your country many years ago while I was stationed in Germany. Beautiful place to play guitar. It’s great that you’ve set your goals and expectations at the start. Justin guitar results in constant success stories for people from around the world. I suggest to take it a step at a time and record your progress. I went from people covering their ears when I play to applause while playing publicly lol. Enjoy the journey my friend.
Thanks Tony. No special story behind goofygiraffe. The linux OS Ubuntu used to (or still does, idk) name their releases in a similar logic, adjective + animal with shared first letter. I liked the concept and copied it for nichknames on the internet.
