Hello James.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space.
https://community.justinguitar.com/categories

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

Thank you for the welcome! I’m currently learning CCR’s version of I Put a Spell on You, and working on lead guitar, as I’m more accustomed to playing rhythm.

Hi James, welcome to the community forum. I had more than 40 years of experience as an open chord strummer, even leading sing-alongs and playing and singing in front of a crowd. I had also tried to learn a little electric out of DVDs and books. I still found it useful to go back to the beginning of Justin’s lessons on the website, look at the videos and check for things I missed in my self study. I learned a few new riffs in grade 1 and improved my strumming technique. Grade 2 gets into blues and rock and I learned quite a bit from that, starting with the Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here intro covered in the first module of grade 2. I hope you have a lot of fun improving your electric lead and solo guitar skills and also pick up more rhythm techniques along the way as you learn a lot of new songs.

Thank you very much! Yeah, I’m very much looking forward to it. I never consider myself much of a technician anyway, so basic leads and heavy stuff will do for me!
