Hello from Jessica in Colorado

I’ve finally decided to dust off my guitar that I’ve had since high school (back in the 90s). I never did learn to play it. I learned the typical Smoke on the Water riff, then it just sat in its case. For decades.
I found the Justin Guitar app and website and have been steadily learning since March of this year. I don’t think I’ll ever put it down again, as I find guitar playing to be both fun and addicting.
My musical tastes and inspirations are varied. I have no idea which direction my own playing will take.
Aside from module related songs, I’m currently working on learning songs from Metallica, The Cure, and the Grateful Dead. Yep, Grateful Dead on an 80s shred guitar. :joy:
I’m so far enjoying myself at each step of my learning, and my main goal is just to continue enjoying it and to learn at a pace that supports that goal.

Hi Jessica! Welcome to the community! I visited Colorado in the late 80ies of the last century as a big part of my wider family lived in the Denver area. I had a great time there!
Hope you have as much fun with your guitar as everyone here!

 We’re not in a flood zone, happily, but I was in the middle of turning my front lawn into a xeriscape flower garden. I live in the suburbs along the Front Range, so currently it’s a mud yard.

Hi Jessica, welcome to the community. Have fun learning to play the songs you love and songs that are new. The more you learn, the more songs you can play and the more fun you can have.

Hi Jessica, welcome. Any song or tune that inspires you to play the guitar is good. At the beginning it can be helpful to have wider musical interests as the song options for practicing the skills learnt that can appeal you are wider too.

Hello Jessica.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and the Community. I’m arriving late to the hello and welcome party. You’re now a couple of months further along - how are you getting on learning with Justin’s fantastic lessons and resources?

There are many good folk here who will happily offer help and encouragement to those coming up behind them on Justin’s Beginner Courses. They embody and carry the pay-it-forward ethos we have nurtured for many years in our community. There are many old hands too who have years and (hopefully) a bit of wisdom they can bring as they give their support to those hitting the road blocks - which we all do.
Just ask if you need anything else.
Cheers
