Hello from Leslie in England

Hi everyone! I’ve been wanting to learn guitar since I was kid. Never had the money to get one growing up and then life takes over. My 6 year old recently start guitar lessons and has inspired me to finally give it a proper go. So here I am. Picked up a Squire Mustang for myself after buying him a 3/4 guitar. I’m loving it. Just need a better amp.

I found out about Justin Guitar via Reddit. So many amazing recommendations when people ask about online lessons. Many say this is better than any paid lessons they’ve tried online, so I signed up. I’m just starting my beginner Module 3 practice.

My biggest struggle is my forearm on my fretting arm. Broke my wrist years ago and lack mobility. Have small hands too. Trying to keep relaxed, but it sure does cramp up when playing songs. Changing chords for the more up tempo songs is a struggle. But I’ll get there in then!

Hope everyone else is enjoying their guitar journey.

Welcome to the forum, Leslie.

It’s cute you and your son start your guitar journeys together - all the best for both of you, most of all fun and joy while learning.

Hope your forearm is not too bad and will get used to all these new motions and positions over time. Fingers crossed for you!

Cheers - Lisa

Welcome to the forum. I’m glad to hear you due to give it a go especially with the wrist challenges… I deal with chronic pain in my hands so limits me sometimes but I never give up. I suggest to record your progress and see how you will make leaps in progress with Justin and his course. I’m living proof that hopeless can turn into talent with time and practice. Check out our record yourself and progress section to see our community members playing good luck to you

Thanks Jeff. Well done for persisting. Any wrist/hand struggles definitely present their own challenges. Practicing chords and the changes seem to be okay as I can make adjustments playing a bit slower. But the play alongs cause some pain at the moment. I don’t adjust my arm enough to adjust for the wrist. I’ll get there. Thanks again!

HI Silvia. Thanks. That I do. For now he just strums whatever and sings, but it’s still good fun!
