Hi Mitch,
Wow
At least you have the Gear :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
I know more people with more guitars than chords they can play, just a guitar (or ) in the room because they like how it looks and have a secret desire to learn it one day

Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun and this

is the easy part ,
Follow the perfectly aligned course from the first grade and the foundation stacks up neatly… the first 3 Grades are a perfect basis for a lifetime of fun with the guitar, in between you can look further and sniff out some other things if your interests are greater elsewhere or boredom strikes.

If in doubt, ask here on the forum and an answer will come :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings,Rogier

Hello and welcome!

Good luck on your yourney. If i may offer some advice, it would be this: “it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon”.

Hello Mitch

A very warm welcome to the forum :sunflower:

Wow, this really is an awesome collection of beautiful guitars

You’ve found the perfect place here for your guitar journey, and soon you’ll collect lots of new chords, too.

My tips for a strong guitar foundation?
Oh, Rogier has already found such nice words (he always does), I haven’t much to add here …

Just follow the great, comprehensive and well structured courses, keep it fun and play your favourite songs :musical_note: :musical_notes:

Enjoy your musical journey and have lots of success!

Cheers

Welcome to the community! If you start at the beginning and actually follow Justin’s course and plan reasonably rigorously, you will get the foundation you are asking for. That means coherent practice inside (mostly) the program and time spent actually doing it. Best of luck!

I would love to hear the backstory on 5 well displayed electrics without playing yet! We all resemble that to some degree…
What are they? Three look identical to me, aside from color.

Hi Mitch,
start with lesson 1 at JustinGuitar. Learn it well and then move on to the next lesson.
Justin’s got a real knack for being able to teach guitar to others.

Nice collection of guitars man.
Yer wife’s gonna love you, not a amp in sight… That’ll keep the peace for sure… Peace and quite…
My wife could only wish for such luck to have me have an electric guitar w/o a amp…

btw, yer 3 up on me for electric guitars, I only got 2 that are serviceable…

Have a great time here on the forum Mitch, yer gonna be playing in short order.
Enjoy the ride.

How to build strong foundation ? Suggestions:

  1. Chose ONE of your guitars - the favorite - handle it to a Luthier and have it well set up FOR A Beginner. Stringset 009 -042 std - easy
  2. .Buy a good clip on tuner - tune with vibration not a mic tuner. Tune always before playing so your ear gets the right sound. A metronom is also good to have -dowload an app for that !
  3. Start from lesson 1 and move on.
  4. Do the basic theory simultaneously - basic chords -as triads major and minor
  5. Learn the notes on the E and A string - Justin has a good app that works with Apple IOS !
  6. Starting with open chords learn which strings do have the Root , the 3’rd and the 5’th.
  7. Now you are on stating your journey - as stated above it is not a sprint it is a marathon!
  8. GOOD LUCK !!!

Great comments from everyone above. As they said, start on Justin’s Module 1 of Grade 1 and go from there. The course is very well structured, nicely paced, and also fun. There’s something for everyone in the course IMO. For example, I started off wanting to learn power chords foro rock and punk and then found I loved finger style and playing the electric with a very clean sound, which I didn’t expect.

Looks like your guitar collection is well set up for some good power chords with crunch. Like @Jamolay mentioned, would love to hear how you come to have several very similar looking guitars.

Most importantly, remember it does take time and lots of practice (sometimes some considerable frustration and pain in the finger tips) but remember to have fun along the way.
