Hello from Northern Ireland

Hi I’m Martin and I am 43 years old. I bought my first guitar when I was 36 and have been playing on off (mostly off) for the last 7 years! I have not progressed much beyond beginner but I am looking to change that by changing my approach and attitude to practice and am excited to start learning some new concepts and being an active part of this community.

Thanks and hope you are all enjoying your guitar journey

Hey Martin, welcome to the community. I had the delight of visiting Northern Ireland a bit over a decade ago, it was a great experience. I particularly enjoyed the Giant’s Causeway as we have our own mini version of that near us. I encourage you to stick with your plan to proceed beyond the beginner stage with the guitar, it’s so very rewarding.

Welcome Martin. We’re in a similar position - since the start of the year I’ve restarted from module 1. It helped get back coordination and understand all my bad habit and holes in understanding. Now all I need to do is actually kick the bad habits  Looking forward to seeing how you get on.

Welcome Martin. The community is great, lots of good ideas, info, help when you’re struggling with something. I’ve become pretty chatty since I joined at the end of January.

And I am also enjoying my guitar journey, being an absolute newbie, I am amazed at what I’ve accomplished in 8 weeks.

Hi Martin.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and the Community. I’m arriving late to the hello and welcome party. Playing hit and miss and sloshing around in the beginners pool is a very common story. You’re now several months further along and hopefully making good use of Justin’s structured lessons - are you anywhere nearer to making them work for you?
There are many good folk here who will happily offer help and encouragement to those coming up behind them on Justin’s Beginner Courses. They embody and carry the pay-it-forward ethos we have nurtured for many years in our community. There are many old hands too who have years and (hopefully) a bit of wisdom they can bring as they give their support to those hitting the road blocks - which we all do.
Just ask if you need anything else.
Cheers
