Thanks Elizabeth - I’m retiring soon and in Robina. Might try to track your group down soon. Definitely a fan of Justin’s videos but not got into the app yet. Paul
Have managed to sign up for Coast Acoustics and look forward to some sessions. Thanks for the alert. Paul
Welcome to the community Paul, enjoy the ride.
From the July newsletter in case its of interest
Saturday 26th August 2023
Country Paradise are staging a family fun day - Funanza - from 10am to 3pm and we have been invited to participate to showcase what the club is all about.
Our involvement will be to run our Open Mic from 1pm to 3 pm and then break into a Group Jam from 3 pm with everyone encouraged to join in. If you wish to participate in the jam please send a quick “I’m in” email to committee@goldcoastacoustics.com.au
This will be a great event for the club and is a forerunner for a Festival that we have tentatively booked for in November. More about that in later bulletins.
Thanks Tony. Might just come and watch first time. I’ll look forward to a jam on a quieter time. Paul
PS Thanks for your learning log - its been a treat to read through and pick up ideas from.
Cool, glad it’s been useful. I can’t make the August 26 jam, it conflicts with family flying in from Melb / Sydney. The 26th is a different event to the usual / monthly open mic events. Funanza is being hosted by Gold Coast City council, so Coast Acoustics is having it’s usual open mic followed by an open jam for any and all to either join in or just watch.
Hi Paul, welcome. Good you and the guitar crossed paths again. I guess your previous experience playing guitar has helped you to manage expectations and be aware of what regular focused practice can help to improve your guitar playing. Enjoy playing your guitar(s).
Welcome to JustinGuitar and the Community. It’s great you have found Justin’s lessons, he offers structure and a sure path to follow from the very beginning. Thousands and thousands have learned using his lessons. Thanks and kudos for taking a subscription to the Strumming SOS - it is proving a game changer for many. It is definitely worth following the website lesson. All have additional information, some downloadable content and each has a link to a dedicated discussion topic here in the community.
If you need any help with a lesson specific question or with any general guitar learning question then do not hesitate to ask. There are many good folk here (as you are already finding) who will happily offer help and encouragement to those coming up behind them on Justin’s Beginner Courses. They embody and carry the pay-it-forward ethos we have nurtured for many years in our community. There are many old hands too who have years and (hopefully) a bit of wisdom they can bring as they give their support to those hitting the road blocks - which we all do.
Just ask if you need anything.
Cheers

Thanks Richard. I am steadily working through Grade 3 - lots of fun new things. But needed the strumming SOS for playing some songs with friends. It was outstandingly helpful. Great to have discovered all this and the community. Cheers
