Hi all, I’m a re-starter. Learned a tiny bit of classical guitar and some Dylan songs in my 20s; several decades later (and about 18 months ago) start playing regularly again. Found a few of Justin’s videos on YouTube, then checked out the website for more. Have recently start the SOS strumming course, which is fantastic (varying strumming patterns; backbeats; fills, shuffle, etc) - having lots of fun. And most recently looked at this community site - so friendly and informative. Look forward to playing with you all. Paul
Welcome to the community, Paul I agree, this is a great place and you will always find positive input from supportive people. I also went for the Strumming SOS courses (still in the first one, but took a sneak peak on the second one already) and I also think that they are really, really great help
Welcome, Paul. Indeed, this is a great place, lots of friendly people who like to help. Glad you restarted playing guitar.
Welcome to the forum Paul

Welcome Paul, so nice to have you here .
Sounds like you’re having a great restart of your guitar journey . Have fun !
I’m looking forward to hearing more from you .
Hi Paul,
Welcome and I wish you a lot of fun and long learning curve
Greetings,Rogier
Welcome to the community, Paul!
Wish you lots of fun on your guitar journey.
Paul, welcome to the community forum. The previous experience with guitar should help you make good progress with Justin’s lessons. Have fun learning new songs.
Hey Paul, welcome to the community. Great to have another Aussie here. When I started playing well over a decade ago I lived on Mt Tamborine and besides justin guitar, a Gold Coast acoustic club made a huge difference for me. We have regular jams, camping weekends and open mics. Based in Nerang, the jams are at various Gold and Sunshine coast locales.
Thanks - the club looks great.
PS Loved your story about the 11 1/2 blues (I’m usually 13 or 14 with fumbling the turnaround
There’s a great event coming up this month, our club will have an open mic there followed by a jam session, if you are thinking of going I can send you a list of the expected jam songs. Usually when the club has a jam it’s more organic, no set list of songs. With this large of a public event we are following a list of songs, it may well morph into something more organic depending on the day.
Hey Paul, G’Day from Sandgroper country
Hello Paul and welcome to community. Glad to hear you are playing again.
Hello Paul and welcome to our community.
Great to read you have decided to pick up the guitar again, it’s such a great thing to do.
Hi Paul, and welcome to the Community
I spent a year working on the Sunny Coast in the early 90s and had an interesting weekend taking my VW camper van down to Surfer’s Paradise, won a couple of hundred dollars in a casino and then headed up to Nimbin, sampling agricultural produce Ah, to be young and foolish…
Good to see you enjoying your return to the righteous path
Thanks Tony - sounds great (the jam, not the open mic!)
Hope to get along, but it’s my wife’s birthday weekend also. Definitely will get to a club event sometime.
happy strumming
Paul
Haha Brian, that’s great, Nimbin has some of the finest agricultural produce in the area. Not sure what makes their produce so much better, maybe something in the air???
THanks Brian - I think that was the 70’s for me … so now trying our old and foolish
Hi Paul
I live on the Gold Coast too - down the South end! I have a guitar group of about 16 people who are all retired and learning guitar with me on a Tuesday. We all use Justin’s teaching videos and also the play along app. It’s a lot of fun and Justin is a very talented teacher as he is able to break things down so it’s easy to understand. Cheers and enjoy your music journey.
