Hello from Walk. It has been a while since I played or made music

I played guitar in my late teens and early 20’s while in the service. 33 years ago my Ovation Medallion was stolen. That hurt. 23 years ago my only daughter was murdered and the music died with her. I have been unable to sing or play since that day. Recently, I felt her presence like I’d never felt it before. The message was simple. Daddy, it’s time to let the music live. For the first time in 23 years I was able to sing the song “Irish Blessing” (Our favorite duet) without breaking down in tears. I am now 70 years old with a new Ovation and I’m here to learn how to play for my daughter.

Hi Walt,
Nice to meet you here, and warmest greetings from Poland, but first of all I must say I’m terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter. Must have been a really traumatic experience…
I’m 71 and love playing guitar; I wish you all the best in your endeavor, especially that you dedicate your playing to the memory of your daughter.

Hello Walt & Welcome!

“Life” sure is hard to understand… sometimes things happen that we won’t ever truly get over… so sorry for your tragic loss and pain.

Hopefully, making the music that you share with your daughter will help you heal, at least a little.

70 years young yo usay … you have a cosy spot waiting for you here: Older guitar students - can 'old dogs' learn new tricks?

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
