Hi Folks, I’m 62 and now retired so I thought I take up the guitar again after a hiatus of nearly 40 years. I started playing when I was about 10 years old and played well into my 20’s. But life got in the way and finger injuries stopped me playing. I still have my first guitar ( a 3/4 Gianni classical) given to me by a neighbor who was a professional.
It’s funny because the stuff I learned as a kid is still in there, finger picking patterns songs and most of the theory. But programming new information now takes a long time.
I stumbled on Justin when looking at taking up lessons again and decided I liked his approach.
Hi Warren,
I’m also a class of 2025 Victorian. Like you, I played a bit a long time ago before life got in the way. I agree something is still there, my fingers just remembered some chords and flows of a few songs.
All the best!
Welcome Warren apart from the age and finger injury that could be my story surprising its all still there when I picked up the guitar again 40yrs later I could still play open chords but as you say new stuff takes longer have fun
Welcome Warren. It’s never too late to come back to guitar. Once upon a time I was so
Bad my landlord wanted to evict me from
My apartment. I failed and quit. Fast forward 20 years later and after a few years of Justin guitar I’m playing on stage. You can succeed here. Good luck
Hey Warren & other Aussies… I’m in the US but have been thinking of moving abroad, and Australia is the place I’m thinking most about. And the reason is: guitar! I love to jam with people and want to be somewhere with musical cultural overlap, so I’ve just started looking into Melbourne and Adelaide.
I have picked up and abandoned guitar about a dozen times over the past 50 years. It’s playing with people that really re-ignited my passion for it, and Justin has been a great support for that. Last year I cruised through the first three beginner courses just to see what I might not have ever learned and it was quite helpful. Now I’m nearing the end of course four at a slower pace. Best of luck with your playing!
Welcome Warren! Isn’t it funny how things we learned as a kid stick with us? I had tap dancing lessons at age 7-8. Never danced after that, but there’s a specific move I can still do on demand! Keep us posted on your (probably quick, relative to many of us) progress.
That rain was savage and unrelenting, for days.
Never seen anything like it before.
Luckily, we are up fairly high, in Port Macquarie, so our home would only really flood if a tsunami came through.
Some friends sadly though, didnt fair as well.
The rain has just moved on today thankfully, so the cleanup across the whole area begins.
