I’ve been dabbling with this guitar malarkey for a few years now, discovered Justin’s website and would follow the lessons for a bit then drift off and do something else , just taken the plunge and subscribed to the app, and its pretty awesome
The app is lots of fun & helps me to play more - I also recommend getting a stand or wall hanger so your guitar is super easy to pick up & play when you only have a few minutes… I practice scales or chord changes for the 5 minutes or so it takes my coffee to brew in the mornings!
Good luck this time around… hope you have loads & loads of fun with your guitar (speaking of which, pics are very welcome here for us guitar nuts to drool over)!!!
Welcome Adam! The app will definitely keep you engaged, especially in the first couple grades. Another thing that helps is checking this community a couple times a week. You’ll find tons of good information and information here! Don’t be a stranger.
Hey Adam welcome to the community. Hope it sticks this time. It’s such a great reward to be able to pull a tune out of your back pocket when you feel like it.
Hey Adam–I too am a nube (am but 3 months on a musical journey), and new to virtual communities as well.
I’m totally not a digital native, so this virtual community doesn’t yet sit comfortable.
But it reads so supportive, and living out in the boonies as I do there is reduced human contact. Maybe this virtual community will help. Stretching (like the spider finger exercises) and mayhaps the comfort will develop…
I second the guitar wall hanger idea, however my experience is that a floor stand is yet more proximal than the wall and therefore, being but a mere 27" reach away, I find myself grabbing the guitar multiple times a day as I wait on hold, watch a spinning wheel, or languish in an obligate meeting without need to interact much. It has really helped me with getting more fluent with those pesky changes to and from C & G chords
