Hello, I'm Jezz, tried guitar on and off for some years

Hi everyone
My name is Jezz and have been trying to play guitar off and on for some time. I am still trying and am really enjoying my guitar journey but have slotted myself into a rut currently (not unusual so I have been told) I am hoping this course will help me. I love all types of blues but very much drawn to Robert Johnson,
Albert King, Peter Green type stuff, but I have a good collection of CD’s. This was meant to be a quick introduction speak to you all soon

Hello Jezz & Welcome!

I find that Justin is the best online guitar teacher! The Grade system is well thought out with gradual but steady learning - the lessons build upon the previous lessons - the Practice assistant will help you in your Journey to be a bit more structured with practicing & the suggested songs for each Module will help you to use the skills presented along the way. I hope that you have lots of fun & that you’re happy with Justin’s teaching method!
Good luck!

Welcome to the forum Jezz

Thank you for my welcome, I do like Justin’s style and am sure it will help me get somewhere near to where would like to be guitar wise.

Welcome! I suggest starting at Grade 1 lesson 1, and working your way through the first 3 grades. The lessons about things you already know will be quick to finish and move on from, but doing things this way will help identify any “holes” in your basic knowledge or technique.

Enjoy the journey!

LOL, definitely a different Fast-Eddie :metal: :metal: :metal:

Hey Jezz, welcome to the community. I can related to your frustration. For me the thing that made the difference was playing my first song all the way through, that gave me the motivation to keep learning songs and keep playing guitar. Hope you find what gives you your grove as the reward once you get hooked is really wonderful.

Hi Tony

I remember when I first started playing I turned the 12 bar blues into an eight bar I got board going all the way to twelve. I used to do that with songs, the songs I played only had one verse and a chorus lol I am more patient these days. It’s all about discipline I suppose, I used to find it hard playing on my own, no one to keep me on track.

Hello Jezz.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

Everyone has to find what it is about playing that keeps them wanting to play more. Keeping it fun is also important. You’ll find plenty of other posts in these forums saying it’s all about songs, songs songs. That was true for me. The cool thing is once you find your groove, the reward of revisiting it is so very good. Keeps you coming back for me. I’ve got two things that give me the reward, first one is songs. The other is the social side of music, playing for and with others.
