Help. Youtube account says it's closed

Can anyone help me? I can’t access my Youtube account and any of my videos as it says the account holder has closed the account. What’s happening here? :frowning:

Hello Claudia,

Whats the name of the Youtube channel so we can take a look.

Cheers, Shane

Have you received copyright strikes in the passed, Claudia? Note strikes, not warnings. As I understand it there is a ‘three strikes and you’re out rule’.

Shane, I just checked and YouTube says the ‘holder closed the account’, which is clearly a misleading message.

I’ve never had any strikes. Nor can I imagine why I ever would. Just can’t understand it.

Hi Claudia,

I’m not sure what the issue is, but can you still login into youtube or into your google account at all, e.g. by using a webbrowser? If not then this google support page may be of help: Can't sign in to your Google Account - Google Account Help
If you are able to login, then go to youtube.com in the browser, log in → then select your account icon in the upper right corner → then select settings → then next to “Your channel” you see an icon with your channel → select that → and now the question, does it say “Visibility: Public”?

I stop here for a moment so you can catch up.

Google close inactive accounts this means you are unable to access a YouTube channel associated with this account.

Google reserves the right to delete an inactive Google Account and its activity and data if you are inactive across Google for at least two years . This policy applies to your personal Google Account.

… which by good luck is not the case here because Claudia uploaded her last video just a few weeks ago.

That’s good did they accidently delete there google account assonated with this ?

I never heard that google accidently deleted any accounts, but this possibility of course cannot excluded entirely. The issue could be related to the account itself, or related to youtube channel settings.

I’m curious about the cause of the issue myself, so I suggest, let’s wait for Claudia’s answers to my questions, and then we continue from there.

Edit: added more detail for clarity.

Has anyone other than me bought something silly on ebay while drunk and not remembered it the next day?
Just kidding!

Hi Franz, thanks for your help. I am signed into my google account. When I open up You Tube on my browser, my usual avatar icon is missing. The name of the account appears when I click on the empty avatar, but when I click on the account, Saturno’s channel, it says it doesn’t exist. I have two other old youtube accounts which don’t have any content posted on them and these are still accessible. There is no “Visibility: Public?” question. The @saturno439 has simply disappeared.

If your channel has been terminated, you should have got an email explaining the reason for the termination.

Google may have removed or suspended the account due to a violation of its policies. This can sometimes happen if content is flagged or reported, even by mistake. I agree with James. Check your google-mail that is associated with the youtube account to see if Google sent any notifications regarding a policy violation.

A different possibility, has anyone else access to your account and, perhaps unintentionally, closed the channel?

would you get an email confirmation saying account has been closed?

I’m not sure about an email confirmation. However, if you log in to your associated google account via https://myaccount.google.com/ under “Security” you might be able to see if any unusual access or changes were made to your account.

I’ve not had any emails. No one has access to my account and my account activity on google security shows nothing underhand. Perhaps I deleted the account myself in a drunken stupor… except I don’t drink! I think I may need to try and contact YouTube for help. In the worse case I suppose I can set up a new channel and upload my videos to that. It’s not as if I had any followers anyway

2 posts were split to a new topic: Unable to access videos

It will be then only be a bit of work, but I’m really glad to hear that you still have the videos. Good luck in contacting YouTube for help!
