Hey everyone! I’m returning to guitar after 10 years and loving it. I used to play rhythm guitar and sing in an indie rock band during high school/undergrad, in a haphazard, self-taught way (meaning: didn’t really know what I was doing ). We were inspired by post-punk revival stuff like Interpol and Bloc Party. I played an old Hondo Les Paul clone that had absolutely beautiful tone and terrible intonation. We had a lot of fun. Many of you will know how the next part goes: people’s lives changed, the band fizzled out, and so did my guitar practice.
Recently I started from the beginning with Justin’s course, mainly on acoustic. Want to build solid foundations and take it slow: guitar is a therapeutic activity for me.
It felt like I struck gold when I discovered Justin’s site - I’ve never had the experience of structured lessons. I know a couple things about teaching and you can see straight away that he’s a master. What an amazing set of resources.
Hey Benny, welcome to the forum. Always great to see a Kiwi around here. I’m married to a Kiwi and have plenty of Kiwi rellies, several of them are also musos. Did my first ever open mic nearly 15 years ago in NZ. Living in Northern NSW.
You are in good company because for most people here playing the guitar is a therapeutic thingie … to a greater or lesser extent , as long as you make it a nice session every day with fun, it keeps the mind much younger and healthier than if you did not learn music … win win
Hi Benny,
nice to meet you (your’re not quite around the corner from here) and I think you’ll stay amazed at Justin’s great guitar lessons for some time to come!
Welcome to the community forum Benny. You’re absolutely right about the glittering value of Justin and his team, and unlike crypto, what you get out of their teaching will only increase in value over time. Have fun!
Learning with Justin is for sure the way to go!
Aside from his accent & strange to my ears slang I really love everything about his teaching style! I’ve come farther in the kast year or so than the 3 decades prior!
Good luck & keep it FUN!!!
