Grad student who needs a personal project in the form of a creative outlet. Have always been interested in playing, only I never kept up with learning on acoustic. I’ve just bought my first electric and already going much better thanks to this site!

Welcome aboard–this is a fun place to land.
I’m on the other end of the work routine and find that learning the guitar is a great creative outlet.
One thing that is encouraged in this JustinGuitar community is to share a video of yourself playing when you feel ready. A great way to augment your practice is to make regular videos of yourself (it also helps prepare you for more public exposure). It’s a helpful way to “see yourself in a new light”–you can see/hear yourself from a different perspective, focus on aspects of playing that are difficult to observe while playing, and also look back on saved videos and exclaim on how much the playing has changed. It’s pretty cool.

Welcome, @lzrdlvr! Greetings from your fellow U.S. guitar player! You have landed exactly where you need to be! I wish I had known about Justin before I let Youtube videos with random guitar stuff muddle my learning. In the first 6 months of taking Justin’s guided courses, I learned more than I had the entire year before when I had no direction! I don’t consider myself to be a very smart person, but Justin teaches in such a way that anyone could learn! He was made for teaching guitar! Stay right here!!!

I like that Justin doesn’t just teach you how to play the guitar, but teaches you how to learn to play guitar. I also like the emphasis on learning real songs, which makes it enjoyable.
