Welcome to the community. I also play mostly blues and classic rock, with a little classic country and bluegrass thrown in.

Best thing to do is to absorb yourself in the Blues varieties that you like and listen to and understand the soloing, don’t just listen to one artist, listen to several. When you get the feel of it then see if you can put something together that you like. Blues has to come from your inner voice, it’s a window into your soul. I like blues a lot and have played some decent soloing, but I don’t rate myself as anything special, just a happy blues player!

Hi Chris ,
welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun :sunglasses:

Start from the beginning and from grade 2 (or something like that ,because if it starts to itch too much go a little earlier) I would buy a small blues course, and if you like that you could choose to take the super extensive BLIM class … and of the few things that are not free and the blim (Blues Immersion course) is more expensive, but almost 30 less every month for six months Wow…

Either way, start at the beginning and blues will be yours :sunglasses:

Greetings,Rogier

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum. You’ve definitely found the right place for your blues learning ambitions. Lots of like minded folk here, not to talk about the BLIM course, that takes you out into another galaxy (at least, that’s what the first class told us about it ).

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

Nice to meet you Chris ope to have a chat soon cheers Hec

Hi Chris, welcome to the community forum. Blues isn’t specifically covered in grade 1, but the very important concept of rhythm is emphasized which is important even for solo blues or lead guitar. You will learn basic blues in grades 2 and 3. There is also a lot of great songs from the 60’s and 70’s in the website song lessons and in the JG app. Have fun learning songs and playing the blues.
