Hi there,
I’m an old guy from England. I’m 71 and have had a guitar for over 40 years. I can’t play very well because I just pick it up, learn a song, get dispirited and put the guitar down for a few months, and repeat. Here I am now retired and actually playing! I have learnt to change from G to C at 80 beats per minute without looking at the strings! That in itself is unprecedented! I can play Amazing Grace, Love Me Tender, House of the Rising Sun and Sound OK. I also have calluses on my left fingertips. WOW! Then, to top it all, I discovered Justin guitar. What an amazing teacher! I have also got a scholarship for a blues solo course and am actually playing a blues solo! Yes, me!!! This just blows me away! It is amazing
Thanks so much
That’s a great introduction and welcome to the community.
Welcome to the forum David

Hi David, welcome to the community forum. I’m 70 and have been enjoying learning from Justin for 3 years. I hope you have discovered the great song lessons on the website. Those lessons have been a lot of fun for me. Wishing you lots of fun in your guitar journey.
Welcome to the community David, enjoy!
Great introduction and a warm welcome to the community

welcome ![]()
Welcome among us David, that was great to read about your enthusiasm for learning…I’m afraid getting dispirited sometimes is part of the journey, but with Justin’s structured path you won’t need to put the guitar down as you’ll also progress in being more objective in self- assessing your progress. Just keep going and have fun!
Hi David, welcome to the Community. Sounds like you are already enjoying the ride.
Hello Davey.
You’re a vintage fellow - come say hello to the ‘Old Dogs’ and perhaps join a Vintage Club session.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.
Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.
That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.
Cheers. Richard
