Hi there. I started playing a guitar about eight years ago when I had a double hip replacement and had to find a new challenge to make up for having to quit my endurance sport racing. I have had three tutors in that time but always went back to Justin’s lessons when I got stuck (which was often!!). Now I just use Justin. I enjoy all aspects of playing (though maybe not Metal!). Being a bit older (just turned 60) I find that I don’t pick up things as quickly as I would like but that just makes the experience last longer! I play a mixture of acoustic and electric. I could definitely get more out of my electric guitar and am hoping to attend Justin’s electric/acoustic workshop in 2024. Nothing like a goal like that to push me to improve my lead guitar skills (mainly speed!).
Welcome to the forum Mandy
Hey Mandy few other kiwis around, welcome to the forum!
Thanks heaps Rob!
Thanks Stitch. Appreciate the welcome!
Hello Mandy & welcome to the Community!!!
As an 8 year veteran, I don’t think I have any advice for you but as a fellow 60 year old, I would say to check out the’Can Old Dogs Learn New Tricks’ thread! Lots of good, fun & inspiring reads there! We may be in our later years, but we’re also in our 2nd childhood!!!
Have fun playin’!!!
Tod
Hi Mandy
Nice to meet you and welcome!
Hi Mandy and welcome to the forum (from another kiwi)!
I see I’ll need to work on that then
All the best and hope you make it to the workshop in 2024 - how cool would that be!
Cheers,
Jeff
(P.S. Mandy you probably won’t have come across this yet, but for others that are in the know, I want everyone to be aware this is NOT my alter ego! )
Haha. Love it! That’s quite a user name story! All the best with your metal!
Thank you! Yes. I saw the Old Dogs thread. I’ll definitely be diving in there!
Thanks Jasmine. Happy strumming!
Welcome aboard, Mandy!
Wish you loads of fun on the journey and a lot of joy with your guitars.
Cheers - Lisa
Hello Mandy, and a warm welcome to the community . I hope, you can make it to the workshop. I’m sure, you’ll have a fantastic time there .
Welcome, Mandy. Not that you may consider yourself old (you’re a bit younger than me), we’ve got an old dogs thread kicking around here somewhere you may want to check out.
HA, found it, in the link.
Welcome, Mandy
Age is but a number…
I’m also a newbie and in the older group, we’re never to old to learn, that’s what makes life so great
Another ‘high’ and welcome from the BoP from an ‘old dog’ and his dogs.
Hi Mandy,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun
Greetings,Rogier
Hi Mandy, welcome to the community. Have lots of fun as you learn both acoustic and electric guitar. I’m 67 and on Grade 3 and notice that you have more things to learn on the electric guitar as you advance through the grades.
Hello Mandy and welcome to our community.
Well guitar is a little more sedate than endurance sport racing but just as pleasurable I’m sure.
Hi Mandy, welcome to the community! I wish you lots of fun with your journey. Enjoy the process and I hope you reach the goal to attend the workshop o 2024!
