Hi from Mandy in New Zealand

Hi there. I started playing a guitar about eight years ago when I had a double hip replacement and had to find a new challenge to make up for having to quit my endurance sport racing. I have had three tutors in that time but always went back to Justin’s lessons when I got stuck (which was often!!). Now I just use Justin. I enjoy all aspects of playing (though maybe not Metal!). Being a bit older (just turned 60) I find that I don’t pick up things as quickly as I would like but that just makes the experience last longer! I play a mixture of acoustic and electric. I could definitely get more out of my electric guitar and am hoping to attend Justin’s electric/acoustic workshop in 2024. Nothing like a goal like that to push me to improve my lead guitar skills (mainly speed!).

Hello Mandy & welcome to the Community!!!
As an 8 year veteran, I don’t think I have any advice for you but as a fellow 60 year old, I would say to check out the’Can Old Dogs Learn New Tricks’ thread! Lots of good, fun & inspiring reads there! We may be in our later years, but we’re also in our 2nd childhood!!!
Have fun playin’!!!

I see I’ll need to work on that then  :joy:

All the best and hope you make it to the workshop in 2024 - how cool would that be! :sunglasses: :+1:

Cheers,

(P.S. Mandy you probably won’t have come across this yet, but for others that are in the know, I want everyone to be aware this is NOT my alter ego! :woman: :grimacing:  )

Haha. Love it! That’s quite a user name story! All the best with your metal!

Welcome, Mandy. Not that you may consider yourself old (you’re a bit younger than me), we’ve got an old dogs thread kicking around here somewhere you may want to check out. :grinning:

HA, found it, in the link.

Welcome, Mandy

Age is but a number…
I’m also a newbie and in the older group, we’re never to old to learn, that’s what makes life so great :grinning:

Hi Mandy, welcome to the community. Have lots of fun as you learn both acoustic and electric guitar. I’m 67 and on Grade 3 and notice that you have more things to learn on the electric guitar as you advance through the grades.

Hello Mandy and welcome to our community.

Well guitar is a little more sedate than endurance sport racing but just as pleasurable I’m sure.
