Hi, from Mark in Norfolk

@ReneAsologuitar Rene, If you have only looked at the Justin Guitar classic (or original) guitar course, you may have seen the curriculum organized into stages with 3 stages in each grade. The new course has added new lessons and compressed the 9 stages for 3 Grades into 2 grades with 7 modules in each grade and multiple video lessons in each module. The new curriculum includes musical phrases or riffs early on and by the second grade also has some simple tab based harmonized melodies to play by finger style. It is worth seeing the new topics and increased emphasis on developing musicianship and not just technical skill.

Hi Mark, welcome. Perseverance is what you need and you have plenty of them. You may have rushed a bit the first time and didn’t allow the muscle memory to build up. Check the song is at the right level, two or three chords you have already learnt, with chord changes at the beginning of the bar, and strum only on the first beat of the bar to give you time to prepare for the change. You can slow down the song in the app if still struggling and gradually increasing it each time you reach fluency with the changes. You can later upgrade the strumming to four beats per bar or whichever strumming Justin advices to do. And again you can start slow and increase the speed. Parallel to that, you can also do the one minute changes and the perfect fast changes exercises and go back and try with the app. You may be closer to those clean chord changes than you think. I’m practicing a new song and I’m practicing it at 60% speed to automate the rhythm and the timing of the chord changes.
