Hi Guitar groupies! Beth here in sunny state USA

Hi! I am a visual artist and thought if I was determined enough to learn to draw portraits ( which I did) I could learn to play an instrument. I decided over the holidays 2022 that I was finally going to play guitar. As a preteen I took guitar lessons for awhile and quit. I can’t remember why. In junior high school I played violin in the orchestra (4th chair). I don’t remember practicing much and as soon as I got to HS I stopped. Looking back I wanted to play popular music and an electric violin not classical Bach! I bought an old upright piano in my 20’s that moved with me for 40 yrs though I never got beyond the beginner piano book. In my 40’s I took lessons for a year with a wonderful pianist and then we moved.
I recently remembered my experience as a camp counselor. One of the other gals brought her 12 string guitar for the summer. I always remembered her playing and how wonderful she could just take it anywhere and make music.
Around the holidays, there was an ad on FB about Zager guitars and that it was made to be easier playing and it had a 30 day free trial! So here I am in my 60’s and now own a beautiful Zager guitar as of Feb. That’s when I found Justin’s beginner lessons on YouTube. I love the song app! Finished module one and working on ear training and music theory before moving on to Beginner 2. Working on perfect chords, air changes and strumming in my sleep! Nice to meet you😊

I plan to. He is a great teacher for beginners especially. All my music history has actually made this much easier as an adult. Slow and steady is the way to go.

Welcome Beth. I like your analogy to drawing portraits - with some resilience we can do so much!

Hey Beth, welcome to the community. The guitar is great with it’s portability. It’s taken me all sorts of places I never expected to go.

I didn’t know Zager guitars but it looks like your first guitar is already a quality instrument

So, you can’t blame the guitar :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome and I hope the instrument will continue to inspire you!

Welcome Beth

What a wonderful background you have with such a creative blend of the arts. Envious of anyone who can draw/paint.

You’ve definitely come to the right home here with Justin, his team and the community

Denny Zager (of the year 2525 ) fame makes beautiful guitars! And they really stand behind their product. It already sounds so beautiful just strumming and practicing chords and that is inspiring. Thank you

Thank you Cate! I really have. Timing is everything. One of my favorite quotes “ When the student is ready, the teacher will come” applies here😊

I expect to Helen. Justin makes it easy to learn and my past musical history is “ all coming back to me now!”.

Thank you! I know electric violin is fantastic! Once I understand the guitar I can get myself a violin. I don’t know how I found the notes - no frets! I must’ve had a decent ear
