My guitar journey is quite funny and different for sure.
I picked up my guitar (who I call Havana) during my summer vacations when I was 13 years old and went for classes for 6 months. After that, I lost touch with my guitar with all my school stuff and so much studying, so it lay in a corner of my room.
But it was during the lockdowns when I finally got a chance to make a YouTube channel (which was a dream of mine) and start posting covers. Since I only knew the super basics, I decided to learn guitar by myself by finding tutorials on YouTube and only learning the chords for the specific songs that I wish to cover.
But sadly, I could only remember the chords until the day I uploaded the video. Because of this my knowledge of guitar I could only do the basics and let me just tell you, even my basics weren’t cool enough to play in front of a crowd.
I was determinate though, to learn it properly this time and at any way. To give Havana a justice if you may! So, one day I asked Bing’s Copilot (no kidding!) if there are any YouTube channels that can teach me guitar from ground 0. And JustinGuitar cropped up.
So here, I am today, 8 years later, 21 years old, since I first met Havana, re-starting my guitar journey again with Mr. Justin. And have almost finished Grade 1 Course and enjoying and understanding perfectly thus far.
I really have to say, Mr. Justin is really one of the best guitar teachers out there! And these online lessons feel just like a 1:1 lesson. So, hoping that I stay consistent with my practices and maybe make my dreams of become a good guitarist and musician who can compose her own music, true someday! PS: My channel is AashnaSheSings and would love some support
Hi Aashna,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun
Good that you start from zero, a solid foundation is the most important thing for a long and happy guitar life…
Don’t be disappointed if hardly anyone comes to your YouTube channel…the guitar life for almost everyone takes place in this safe community
There are several ways to let us enjoy your music here or ask questions about videos that you want/will make. Via, for example, a LL ( Learning Log ) or AVOYP (a video of you playing)
Take your time to navigate and/or ask if you like so
Hi Aashna
nice to meet you
I agree, I think Mr Justin is an excellent guitar teacher, and starting right from the beginning is a great way to go
Wishing you lots of fun on your journey with Havana
Welcome to the community Aashna and I hope you enjoy your guitar journey! Justin has helped lots (and lots) of us and I’m sure you will learn a lot from his lessons!
Great stuff. I always like it when people name their guitars. Half the fun in getting a guitar is picking it’s name. Look forward to hearing more from you.
I’ve never had any urge to name my guitars. It’s not like they’ll come when I call them! However, I’ve said that if they could talk they’d probably have names for me!
Thank you Roger! Yes, still very new here and exploring around a bit Thanks for clearing some things up like AVOYP (didn’t know about that until you mentioned). This really feels like a fun guitar community, glad to be here!
Your comment is too funny Naming something creates a connection between you and that thing, also it is cute, so back then thinking about our future musical endeavors I name my little wooded friend.
Hello Aashna. What a great introductory story and I hope you and Havana enjoy many years of romance together.
