Great name Brian
Sure I’m happy to go on the map mate.

Hi Brian, welcome to the community forum. I started Justin again when I was 67. I’m still learning new tricks at 70, so you can definitely learn guitar at your age. Have fun learning to play songs and eventually jamming with your sons.

Hi Brian

Welcome to JG. I like you and many others have picked and put down guitars through my life. I picked one up again a year ago, found JG and have not looked back, I am currently on Blues Immersion 3, a great course but needs time and dedication well worth doing. I would advise completing JG grade 3 first though.

Yes old dogs can learn new tricks I am 67. Take at look at Bintage Club lots of stuff and Richard’s workshops are excellent.

Cool, what region would you like me to ‘stick the pin’ in?

Hey Brian, never give up. If you’re still enjoying it, keep at it. It’ll come. Be patient, and definitely record yourself. Save those recordings and record yourself in a month or two. Compare and pat yourself on the back. You’ll see the improvement, I’m sure. No such thing as not being able to learn when you’re older. I’m 72, and I started JG at 70, about 1.5 years ago. I’m happy with the progress and I’m sure I’ll get even better. Enjoy it. Play along with your sons, regardless of how good you think you are. They’ll teach you things, and you them.

Thanks that’s a great idea to record my progress. Hadn’t thought of that so appreciate it.
All the best for you and your learning too.

Hi Brian and welcome! Many new tricks are awaiting for you to find them out no matter your age  I’m sure you’ll be jamming with your sons soon!

Hello Brian.
We have many old dogs learning new tricks here.

Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.

Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.

We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard
