Hi, I’m new to the site. Everyone suggested JG so I thought I’d give it try. I’ve been playing a long time, but only off-and-on over the last 10 years and I never really graduated past open chords and power chords to begin with. I have some small amount of lead ability.
I want to take it to the next level, as I’m recently disabled and have the time on my hands to finally stop sucking. I’ve seen some pretty toxic communities in the past but I hear you guys are great.
Thanks!
Welcome to the forum Chris.
Welcome Chris! Hope you stay on again for a long, long time
Welcome Chris, enjoy your time both here and with your guitar.
Welcome to the community. All I’ve ever experienced here is enthusiasm and encouragement. Look forward to hearing more from you
Hi Chris,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun
You were told that well, no toxic here
Greetings,Rogier
Well, a tiny bit of sludge at the bottom, but I’m mostly harmless…
Welcome aboard, Chris
Hi Chris, nice to meet you a lot of good people around here cheers HEC
Hi Chris. I’m sure if you follow Justin’s program you can accomplish much more on guitar than just this. Have fun at it!
I think I would describe this community as “the opposite of toxic”.
Welcome!
Welcome Chris!
We’re all blushing. Looking forward to seeing you around!
You didn’t ask for advice, but I’ll offer this as it comes up a lot from folks who have been playing for a while. Do with it what you will!
Here goes: Take the time to start at the beginning of Justin’s Beginner course. Watch all the videos, do the practice. You’ll sail through Grade 1 in no time, and will probably learn some stuff in Grade 2 you haven’t known. Most everyone who does this says it’s worth the time, they picked up good pointers, and even break bad habits they didn’t realize they had.
Hope to see you around!
Hi Chris, welcome to the community forum.Your background sounds similar to mine before starting Justin, except for me it was 40 years of on and off guitar. I will second @judi ‘s advice. I started at the beginning and even learn a few new things in grade 1 and more in grade 2. Have fun on your guitar journey and you will get better.
Welcome to the forum Chris
Hello Chris.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.
Cheers. Richard
