Welcome Jim, lovely intro and a lovely recording to start you off here too!! All the best and much fun
SteveL_G99,
Thanks for the comment. So I’m not the only one who’s gone back for refresher from past lessons. Sounds Like I’m in good company here. I’ll consider going back further perhaps. As to the metronome and keeping in time. I think I just don’t use it enough for whatever reason. I used a metronome all the time when I played trombone. I reckon it’s shear lazyness + no one telling me I gotta use a metronome. I should use it more. Thank for listening to my 1st ‘posted here’ song. Really glad you posted what I could do to make it better too. Your statement.
“but I kept thinking that I wished I could hear you play acoustic for the rhythm track. It would add more weight to the rhythm track”
For one, I did use a click track when I recorded that as I was varying time a bunch on that one. The metronome mostly kept me in line, mostly. As for the guitars I did on that one. I did it a month or so ago and used 2 guitars parts. The strumming (rhythm guitar) is a live mic’ed acoustic, and the arpeggios done on a live mic’ed electric (two tracks). I’d not listened to it much since I did it, but my first reaction to hearing it again was, I felt I should have had the arpeggios more fwd. Really thank you for that comment. That’s why I came here. Constructive criticism. Excellent.
Since you like ‘The Weight’ too. Have ya seen the youtube video of playing for change of that song, Ringo, Robbie Robertson and others play on it. It’ll bring tears to your eyes. At least it does for me.
Thanks for the kind Welcome LunaRocket. I’m real glad I’m here too. I’m thinking JustinGuitar might be just what I need.
Thanks for the Welcome SgtColon. I think I’m gonna like it here, and with luck and perseverance learn a lot.
Hi Jim and welcome to the forum. I was born and raised in Fremont, lived a short time in Lincoln, but mostly in Fremont and Omaha. Nice to see another Nebraskan on here. We’re living in Palm Desert, CA now. I’m retired and about to turn 73. It’s been a year going through Justin’s courses. Still not ready for prime time but having fun anyway. Best of luck on your journey and enjoy!! Russ
Thanks for everyone else’s warm welcome.
I wanted to thank folks one at a time, but today I’ll just go with the big Thanks to all that I missed yesterday individually. .
Got my 1st forum lesson yesterday.
As a new person here. Ya can only post so many times in one day. I used up my limit yesterday.
Hi Jim welcome. Good you have given a try to the guitar again. I haven’t even wandered into those advanced lessons you have, but if the metronome is not inspiring you, you can try the Justin Guitar Strumming Machine and work on keeping a more regular tempo. Have fun.
Thanks for the welcome and for the heads up Andrés @dobleA .
That looks like a great tool to help me out with keeping time. Appreciate the link.
