Hi - I'm Zack from Utah

Hello everyone! As the topic clearly says, my name is Zack and I’m from central Utah. I’m an older teen looking to learn a wide variety of guitar play styles, as well as learning to actually play chords without having my hand cramp up haha.

I’ve come back to guitar several times, mostly for a month or two at a time, but so far, this is my longest “streak” of actually playing with roughly three months under my belt. Recently, I’ve been taking actual steps to better my skills through short youtube videos and reading tabs. I also try to practice once or twice a day for 10-30 minutes at a time.

Honestly I’m a bit worried about staying motivated with playing and practicing, as I’m a bit notorious of trying something new for a week or two and then moving on haha. I came to Justin Guitar from a reccomendation from a YouTuber and I look forward the progress I will make!! Have a great day everyone!

Welcome to the forum Zack. :waving_hand:
There will be plenty of late teens here abouts but for most of it in our heads or in our dreams and days of yesteryear.

A difficult time to stay motivated with many distraction at this stage in ones life. But hang in there and try and keep that streak running.

Plenty of support here when needed. Just holler.

Welcome Zack. Three months - that’s long enough to develop a new “habit”! If you feel yourself drifting, consider looking ahead a couple of lessons. Identify something you want to work toward. Then head back to what you’re working on…with a renewed sense of purpose - heading toward that goal! Oh, and check in here, too…we all go through those times when we just need someone to encourage us to keep with it. See you around!

welcome to the community. Great to meet you. You’ll see this mentioned elsewhere in the forums. For me, any many others, it’s all about the songs. The more songs I can play, the more I want to learn. Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Zack,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hello Zack.
Stickability is the key characteristic you will need to continue and improve. I wish you luck.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.
