Hello, i am almost 14 and a few years ago i bought a guitar. I tried learning how to play (cuz i love the sound of guitar, and want to know how to play it myself) but just couldn’t go far, soon forgot everythig. Found this on Pinterest while watching music videos, and thought “Why not?”. I signed in, and boom i am here. Looking forward to learn. Have a good day/night everyone!

Hello Varvara, and warmest greetings from Warsaw, Poland
Nice to meet you here; let me tell you something: if you really want to learn to play guitar - you certainly will! After all, every guitarist once was a beginner…
Right! It’s a beautiful sound, there’s something incredibly attractive to it.
Good luck, and have fun!
Welcome to the forum Varvara
Welcome! You’ve certainly found the right place!
Great! Welcome!
Hope you find Justin’s course as addictive as I did!
Welcome Varvara! I’m confident you’ll progress much farther with Justin’s lessons, and that you’ll also remember what you learn! Glad to have you here.
Welcome Varvara—lot’s to learn in a very well ordered/structured/fun way here at Justin Guitar.
Most import thing is to spend time playing songs–it forces you to keep playing even when you miss one chord transition, the next one is but a fraction of a second away! (there are a number of pieces of software out that that can slow down a song while doing a pretty good job of keeping the pitch and words sounding OK (Garageband, I’ve read the opensource Audacity does it too, and others)
Then you can raid your music collection, and slow the playback down, speeding it up as you get better and better. And YouTube has this option as well (as @markr31 reminded me)
You can find the chords/tabs/lyrics (digital descriptions of the songs) to most any song for free on the web (of varying quality). There are also a bunch of subscription services too where you can purchase them (such as Justin’s https://www.justinguitar.com/store/tabs which is closely aligned with his courses, and a huge one with, they say, 1million + songs, that has a free portion and a subscription portion https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/, for $$$)
… There are A LOT of Justin videos of songs where he teaches you how to play too, for free.
There’s lots of software out there to play those chord/tab files too. I stumbled on Songbook Chordpro, it will also play your recording of the song while scrolling the lyrics, allow you to edit, play with your buddies. Pretty cool . Desktop will slow down replay of song, iPhone/Android App is in beta to do same LinkeSOFT SongBook Songs and Chords.
When you’re ready, a metronome can help. There are free metronome apps, Justin sells a nice metronome for just a couple dollars that can speed up as you play and help push you a bit faster to hitting tempos and coming in on the beat. https://www.justinguitar.com/store/time-trainer.
I expect you’ll see me in your rearview mirror as you zoom past in your skills, wave as you go by!
Cheers,
Bruce
It’s a built-in feature on YouTube.
welcome to the community
Welcome to the community Varvara!
Thanks, this is a great reminder that Youtube has the option to slow playback–I’d forgotten about this feature.
------ the ads for BURNING FAT!!!, GET A BIG STICK!!!, etc. drive me bonkers
and I’d rather my money go to a small software company–but that’s a personal choice.
