Hello, huge fan of your lessons. As a technical instructor myself for 30 years, I pick up on all the small bits you include, which is amazing and extremely difficult.
On highway to hell I wondered is the thumb could be used in the D with an F sharp base? Out of all my fumbling around that fingering is easiest for me. If someone could acknowledge if the Thumb style of D with the F sharp is acceptable or could trip me up, I would appreciate it very much. Happy New Year!

Jeff, so long as you’re catching a ean F# note in the bass thumb or stretched out finger is good.
where can i find the timing to this using a metronome
