Hosting open mic - If I Go, I'm Goin'

Kevin Locke @kevguitar and I hosted an open mic at Cypress Coffee tonight, and it went extremely well! Had a dozen or so performers and over 60 attentive listeners. I honestly thought it was the best open mic I’ve attended. Kevin and the coffee shop must have done a fantastic job getting the word out. I didn’t expect we’d get this kind of turnout for months if at all. Had everybody singing along to the choruses of Brown Eyed Girl and Tennessee Whiskey at the end of the night.

Bravo and many good vibes to you both.

That is a wonderful crowd to attract. How many performed?
Kevin is playing at our Community Open Mic soon too.

Hey Richard! Jay did an incredible job starting us out and set the bar high. I am extremely fortunate to have a front row seat to Jay’s developing skills and grateful to have met him through this forum. We had ten solo artists and a three piece band. And as Jay said, over 60 in the audience. I sit at the coffee shop (Cypress) nearly every morning with my dog, so I knew 95% of the people who attended. I made table posters and put them out about three weeks before. I pitched it at a couple of other Open mics. It was still a surprise! We packed the place! And the community grows…

Fantastic Kevin.
I hope you took Kike & Zuzu along too!!

Is there a recording of you performing Kevin?

Hi again Richard. I’ll track down my performance. I think Tori, my wife recorded it. And I’ll try to post it.

I think we had 10 or 11 performers. It was a great venue- warm and cozy with good acoustics. Kudos to Kevin for coming up with this idea. He gave a strong recommendation for Justin last night.
