How many chords to work on

Just wondering how many new chords do most people work on at the same time. I am presently halfway into module 12 and working on power chords, I have my E shaped barre chord down well but continue to work on changing to it better, I struggle with the mini F on acoustic and work on that on a daily basis, I am also working on B7 and Bm barre chords.

Well, after you learn all of the open position chords (C, A, G, E, D, Em, Am, Dm), power chords, and barre chords, then you only need to learn the chords (and chord changes) in whatever new song you are trying to learn.

Since you are at Module 12, I suggest you practice all the open chords you struggle with, the 6th and 5th string power chords, and the F barre chord, including changing between them.

You can practice all the open chords by adding a 5-minute practice item where you play the 5 Most Popular Chord Progressions in both the key of C and G. This will cover all except the A chord, so you can add in a blues in A as well. For power chords, I suggest using Justin’s old “Master Rock Power Chords” module https://www.justinguitar.com/modules/master-rock-power-chords

Practicing power chords will help build the muscles needed to make the F barre chord easier to master.

YMMV
