How to pass grade 1 strumming patterns

l have reached the end of grade 1. Justin says we should know 5 songs. l have 5 songs selected, they have the besic strumming pattern on the app. then there is is chords and the tab version. what is meant when he says we should know 5 songs. does this mean the basic strumming examples in the app? please help l am desperate.

Hi Bobbie, and welcome to the Community! If you know 5 songs, and can play them with any strumming pattern (at least one with Old Faithful), you are good. I assume you’re referring to the paid subscription for chords and tabs…you definitely don’t have to know those. Some of those tabs are pretty advanced, even though the song is a beginner song!

Yes, when Justin says you should “know” 5 songs, he generally means you should be able to play them through confidently with the basic strumming patterns and chord changes. It doesn’t mean you have to play them perfectly or exactly like the original recordings—just that you can get through the song smoothly without stopping. If you’re using the basic strumming versions from the app, that should be fine! The goal is to build fluency and rhythm before moving on.
