Hello! The link to the iTunes tracks says it’s not available in my country (UK) - any idea how I can get these please?

I think looking up an easy guitar solo on youtube or something with tabs and then trying to play it, and then you can check how well you did, is a really great ear-training exercise.

Unfortunately the ear training app is no longer available on google play unless you have a very old version of android :frowning:

I want to buy the Android app but it’s not available for my device running Android 14 :frowning_face:
Are there any plans to update the app?

Justin taught me most things I know about the guitar but this course is where I will disagree with something he said.
practicing one interval at a time has wasted so much time for me because of recency bias, I would reach a point where I can sing it correctly each time and know how it sounds
but when practicing another interval I would mix them up because I am expecting the one I spent on more time recently.
I really think it is better practicing a few at a time. it has improved things for me a lot.
I hope to be corrected if I am missing something

I spent some time trying to understand how to purchase the Ear training exercices in my country (Canada). Even subscribed to an Apple Music free trial on my phone as it kept telling me about that. Finally, I found out the website required the iTunes app to work, not the Apple Music one.

  1. Use your computer, not your phone. Mine has Windows 11. But, I think the steps should work on Mac if you use the Apple Store instead of Microsoft Store.
  2. Open the Microsoft Store app on Windows 11 and search for iTunes. I’m really talking about iTunes, not Apple Music.
  3. Open Itunes and create an apple account.
  4. Then open in your web browser the Apple Music link from Justin and click on “Buy for 6.99 pounds”.

  5. It should ask “Do you want to open this link in iTunes ?”. Say yes.
  6. Then, finally, it should open in Itunes app in your current country/currency.

  1. I you click on his name “justinguitar”, you’ll see all the other songs he has on iTunes. Like Ear training volume 2 and volume 3 for grade 2 & 3.

The Ear training app no longer works on Android. It’s such a useful app, it’s sad to see it go. :frowning: It crashes on startup.

I understand this app is not supported by Musopia and you might not have a lot of developper time, being a small team.

So, I offer my help to take a look at the source code/programming, I’m a software engineer and I teach Android software development. So, it could be a cool little challenge for me and a way to help the team :slight_smile:

On a side note, I happens to also love React which I believe is the technology the website use :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

UPDATE: I made some tests this morning and I found the root cause of the bug that is causing the app to crash at startup on all Android devices. It’s a small programming fix I could do for the team if I had the code or share the information with your in-house leaf cutter studios developer . :slight_smile:

That does the trick! Using a Mac, the iTunes link opens in a browser tab where I can preview the tracks without creating an account or signing in.

I often do the JG courses on an iPad, and I’ve never seen an (iTunes? Apple Music?) album before that was only accessible on a computer. Fun times, but at least there’s a workaround. Thanks for the tip!

I am on a MacBook, I can’t find the old iTunes app - I get bounced to the Music app. The link in the lesson opens up the right album but there’s no sound from any song - they just ‘think’ for a couple seconds, followed by a popup that says “Autoplay” but just silence. Are the songs available some other way?

A shame that the ear trainer app no longer works, I bought it years ago and only just realised that across a phone change it no longer works. Any alternatives anyone here suggests?

It works on my iPhone with the latest iOS. Are you on an Android? Perhaps someone else can help with those.
