Humbuckers

I’m going to upgrade the pickups on my LP copycat I built. Im trying to decide between seymour duncan Pearly Gates or Seth lovers. Im more of a blues guy and used to my old ES335 TD . Does anyone have any advice or experience with either of these?

from what I read, it seems like the difference is really narrow

Yeah I agree. The Seth Lovers are not potted and are only a single shieled wire. I don’t think thats a big deal. I did read somewhere that the Seth Lovers are not advised with tube amps over 50 watts. Really doubt that is going to be a problem for me.
Thanks for the reply and let me know if you hear anything else. Hoping for a holiday sale.
Thanks again

btw, don’t forget that the speaker in your amp has a bigger impact than your pickups.

If you are after a better tone, consider investigating amp and especially speaker options.

If you are experiencing noise etc issues, it could be various scenarious as well.

Thanks for the tip. I checked my amps performance today with my Strat and it seems to play full range with great sound. So I guess Im going to go into the bucket and upgrade the LP’s pickups. What I have now came with a guitar build kit and all the hardware was just crap. The pickups are the only items from the kit I used, everything else was upgraded including the pots and wiring.

So you have a DIY Les Paul copy? Great job, before I bought my new Guild Solara I was thinking about self made SG.
My question is: are you sure you want to upgrade this guitar with a gear worth 3 times more then the guitar itself? I would suggest trying something less expensive, like Tonerider, Roswell or Entwistle. They sound really great, but are much more pocket friendly… I’ve mentioned these three, because I have a lot of experience with these manufacturers.

Hey WOW. Thanks for the idea. Looked into the Toneridrrs and read many reviews and people are very happy with them. The guitar plays really well and I have a good deal of time/work on it. All the upgrades cost more than the kit so I guess I just got stuck at in for a penny in for a pound and the pickups are the only thing that I dont like. Thanks again. You just saved me some money.

Thanks so much. GREAT suggestion.
