Hi there. Relatively new to the app and learning guitar. Loving the journey so far. I’m doing the lessons and not moving on til I get the 30 changes. I’m finding the changes aren’t counting correctly, even though I’m sure I’ve hit the chord cleanly. It changes with more frequency on acoustic, and way less on electric. I’m not sure if it’s me, or the app?
I just looked at my phone timers. I have hear it has a hard time picking up the D. 30 is great progress. You could try cleaning the mic area. You may ve suprised of the gunk the gets intnher eespecially if you have a full hevay duty case. Who knows. Dont let it hold you back. I did chord changes for months and months. I just had a section in my practice routine where I did different one during my first part of it ever day. Next will be The Perfict Chord changes. I still do them when I have difficult ones for a song I am working on with odd chord shapes. I just add that change to my daily practice until i have it down in the song. Then i just continue to practice the song.
The best thing is practice songs with it. Your doing great. Keep it up.
I also had difficulty with the app counting the chords last year. I used my phone timer and counted the chord changes myself in my head when I was practicing.
I never used the App tool for counting my changes back then, despite of a few early attempts.
I set a metronome to whatever my target was and tried to keep up with the beats. Saved me from counting and got my changes more evenly. Setting a timer to a minute and counting changes got me distracted.
The count was always off for me as well. Plus, “chord perfect” tones ceased being registered on iPad mini (OLD ), and iPad (9th gen running 17.6.1), but iPhone (also on 17.6.1) does work–and it’s lintier than others – I’ve tried vacuuming out the mic (yep, cruft was evident). Counting is now just another thing try to distract my mind and help me to be more resilient…
Wow I’ve been getting so frustrated trying to hit the 30 changes, started counting when think it was D to E i was getting stupidly low scores. Just now I’ve realised that D to counts as one and E to D counts as to do I’ve been able to double my manual count score!!! Yippee not so useless after all
I’m having the same issue now as well. The counter works fine for A to D changes in module 1 and 2, but not for A to E or D to E. It’s almost as if it doesn’t recognize the note fast enough. For example, I’ll play D, then go to E, but I will play E before the app transitions to E. So then I play D, then E again, before the app goes back to D the first time. Essentially it’s not counting two changes.
I’m really frustrated, because I wanted to choose between JustinGuitar and FenderPlay. My plan was to do both their free trials, then decide. Apparently, I didn’t cancel my subscription in time to JustinGuitar, though I believe I did. Even after asking for the refund through Apple and explaining I was considering the year or monthly subscription after trying FenderPlay, my request was denied. After trying FenderPlay a bit, I was leaning towards JustinGuitar anyhow. One of the main deciding factors for me though was the quick training module feature, including the chord changes. Really bummed if it’s going to be the inaccurate going forward. I get I can count myself, but this is a feature you are paying for with that app, so you can focus on playing bot counting.
I saw in a Reddit thread about a year ago that an update solved this issue for someone else. I tried that, but it didn’t correct it for me.
Any response to this @MusopiaApps? I’ve moved on to the third module and continue to find the cord change challenges are wildly inaccurate, as in results of one to five changes. I’ve used both my iPad and iPhone. Same result. This is unacceptable for a paid app.
Yes it is the same for me. I won’t be renewing my subscription after the first year. My playing has worsened and guitar has become less enjoyable after subscribing. I’ll try another online lesson next year.
We’re really sorry to hear that the chord recognition feature in the app isn’t working as expected for some of you. While we’ve tested it on our end and couldn’t replicate the issue, we understand it’s causing frustration and impacting your experience. Please know that our tech team is actively investigating ways to improve its accuracy.
In the meantime, we suggest manually counting the chord changes, as mentioned earlier in this thread. However, we recognize this isn’t an ideal solution, since the app should be automatically tracking the changes on all devices.
To help improve the recognition, please ensure you follow these steps while using the app, as the performance can vary across different devices:
Make sure the microphone on your device is clear of any debris.
If you’re using an acoustic guitar, position yourself close to the microphone.
If using an electric guitar, ensure the amp is set to a clean tone.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and be sure to grant microphone permissions when reinstalling.
We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more information.
Something is certainly not working correctly. I just did the most difficult one minute challenge in module 4 for D and Dm. It’s like it spazzed out and went to 108 changes before saying my final result was 100. I can assure you, I did not do that many.
