I’m having great difficulty navigating on this site

I’m having great difficulty navigating on this site. I don’t know what is what? And i’m having a heck of a time getting files to open. It’s probably just me but I don’t know if anybody else is having problems, any advice would be greatly appreciated

I use the mobile view.

I guess the first thing to understand is the community site is a different site than the Justin video site. You go to that site for the lessons and practice assistant and then the discussion links to the community site for the forums and community discussions. Once you wrap your head around that it makes more sense.

Alerts like replies to your comments and threads that you commented in with be accessible from a drop down menu from your avitar in the top right corner.

The menu button (3 horizontal line) next to it will have a majority of the options, 2 which are grouped and editable. The top group being the main group. That top group will have links to common places.

The next block down is the categories block and is editable, you can click individual links or “all categories” that one takes you to a page that has all the catigories. That will have the bulk of the forum threads within. I suggest you go to that page and browse it and you will see how its layed out. Songs, grades, general community, clubs, equipment.

Then next block is tags also editable. I know many people who are tech savvy who love tags, I kmow they are very useful. I dont really use them so that spot is a bit dusty.

Below that is also another box with an alert link this box is editable as well.

I hope that helps some. Its not that bad once you browse areound a little. It makes sense once you get a few for it. The 2 sites do 2 very different things. I hope this helped some.

Good luck

@starfish42 Hello Richard, Jason did already a great job describing you the platform.

I offer you this link for lessons map. Also the big difference is between Justin Guitar and Justin Guitar Community.

On the Justin Guitar - you will have all the lessons and materials to learn, including grades, courses, clubs, etc.
On the Justin Guitar Community - you will have space to talk about all these materials, gear, your progress, etc.

Thank you:+1::+1: just to confirm so basically i’m getting exactly the same thing. On justin guitar as I do on justin community is that correct? Once again, thank you. I was able to get on Justin guitar and
For me, it’s a lot easier.

Thank you your information was very much appreciated.Thank you so much

Hi Richard. The exact opposite is true: Justin Guitar (https://www.justinguitar.com/) is the place to get lessons songs, tools…lots of stuff. The Justin Guitar Community (https://community.justinguitar.com/) is where you are reading this. While I think you can read community comments from the Discussion tab of each lesson on Justin Guitar, and you can even leave a comment, that is being sent to a different platform. If this last bit is confusing, just ignore it. I always keep Justin Guitar (lessons, songs etc) open in one browser tab, and the Community open in another.

@starfish42 Age is just number and there are many folks around. You are not alone in this community.

What do you mean exactly? The app for phone or tablet?
I would recommend to go to the App Store or Google Store and type in Justin Guitar.

Did it help?

Btw, I think the app is paid subscription and there is much less than on the website. There are just few Grade (materials for years of learn). Main advantage of the app is you can play along with metronome showing chords. Also I think there is 7 day free trial.
Personally I use Justins platform on the web on tablet. One window for learning and second for Community.
If anyone has bigger experiences with the app, please correct me.

Second btw, I dont wanna overwhelm you. There are also clubs. Free clasess online and there is also vintage club with Richard that is aiming, if I am correct for older folks, but anyone can attend. There is already rich series going on touching many topics. But that is for future. Just so you know.

@starfish42 Hi Richard,

I know it’s a bit overwhelming at first. The Justin Guitar site and the Justin community website are almost 2 separate things. They are 2 separate websites but you use the same username and password to login to either.

Everything you need to learn guitar is on the Justin guitar website. You don’t have to download any app. The Justin guitar app is an optional paid extra but the main lesson content plus a huge amount of other stuff is on the Justin guitar website. You just watch the lesson videos from the website.

The Justin community site (ie here) is where you can chat and get advice from other people learning guitar.

Both the Justin guitar site and the community site have a huge amount of information. So they can both be a bit daunting when you start, but you will soon find your way to navigate around them.

If you are completely new to guitar then all you have to do on the Justin guitar site is to go to the courses menu and then start the course at grade 1, module 1.

Best, Ian

Ah… the “download” would probably be the Justin Guitar App. This is not required, and serves as a companion to the content on the website. Most people use it for the “karaoke” feature: songs you can play along with. I think the download is free, but the content — actually using the app — is subscription-based. As @Carreta said, this would be downloaded to your phone or tablet from the appropriate App Store. If you will not be using a phone or tablet, you probably won’t want to use the app. Hope that helps…keep asking questions!!!
