I also keep thinking back to this great line by @LievenDV My wife gave a good pep talk to me yesterday evening and this was part of it, close at least.

It is definitely true. I need to keep reminding myself of this wise phrase and advice.

On the bright side, you are not in the middle of the Rock Immersion class!

I have my first great grandkid to be born in a few months, and another grandkid getting married just before that. I was wondering if rock immersion would be right over the top of those!

Oh? you normally reject the rules and make your own? Planning to play jazz, then?

Imagine the types of music they will be listening when they are in their teens. It is wild to even contemplate.

Been there (and am still leaving there).
Take a moment to think about what
a) was happening inside you,
b) the crazy amount of trauma inflicted upon you by the surgery: Nerves and muscles and bones were abused mightily.

Our body’s are put together such that you can’t do anything without using your abused back muscles.

You are rocking it. Give yourself the credit you’re due! You ain’t no young buck who bounces when they hit the floor.
Frustrating as hell to lose functionality (also note: surgery can make latent/unnoticed problems announce themselves with vehemence. Sometimes it feels like a conspiracy to inflict suffering, but it’s just our body doing its best.)

It will get better, honest, it will!

        It already is, isn’t it?

If you’re interested, message me privately and I can pass on the things I did/bought that helped me post spinal surgery.

You’ll get there–but not as fast as you want to get there,
Bruce

Thank you man. I need a big banner that says that and I need to hang it up so I see it everyday.

I keep forgetting that, i have got to remind myself even though my leg and the muscles are on complete fire, I do feel them. Thats more that I can say from before. I was losing sensory and motor in my right leg intermittently. So in that respect, darn right I am getting better.

Thank you BC. This isbsuch a good uplifting positive message to see right now when I am waking up. Perfect possitive affirmation message for me.

I am going to message you as well.

Weren’t those the days. Youth is squandered on the young. Haha😂

Sorry, I’m a bit late here - but what you’re going through doesn’t sound fun at all - but l gotta say that you seem to have a great attitude to it! The way we frame problems usually has a huge impact on the outcomes, so likely you’ll be back fully healed in no time! Best wishes!

Thanks Justin. I appreciate that, I seem cool now but you should have seen me the first week. I was completely freaking out when I recieved a text message from my primary saying you have a tumor in your spine, you need more tests.

I know Metastasis from a different location is the most commom spinal tumor in men my age. So admittedly my attitude was a little different. But then after further imaging and some more tests. It proved it do be a much better diognosis, well that changed everything. Lots of relief. I was able to chillify.

Thanks for the kind words. They mean a ton to me. Every positive affirmation I read I hold on to and use when I am struggling with my next step, pepping my self up to stand to do my next walk across the house or any of the difficult things.

It might sound silly but i have re read these replies over and over again each morning to help me get a 100% readyness each day. Rereading this thread is my morning pep talk to go with my wifes pep talk. Its really motivation and amazingly helpful.

Thanks everyone.

I would echo what Bruce @mundeli says. Despite the upheaval of surgery, and post-operative procedures and treatment, things will improve. Keep on keepin’ on!

I have been working hard, also resting a lot. I get tired super easy. I have been able to pick up my guitar more and more, that gives me a ton of hope. I have a small video up date, nothing fancy. I am posting one here of me walking.

Just wanted to do a shout out to Silvia and Fanny for a scholarship for the strumming 101, so I have something I desperately need to work on while I recover. I am in need of it as my strumming needs some help. Also Bruce @mundeli who had this amazing list and tips for spinal chord patients. It was amazingly comprehensive and helpful. I have been just wiped out its been hard for me to type so much. But thanks everone for your kind messages and support. It means the world.

Edit. Here is the link the the second video I posted.
