I walk the line by Johnny Cash cover

Hi everyone, I recorded new cover recently to fit for the 9th module of the course. Picking individual notes was effortful task to practice for me, especially the intro requires counting string numbers in mind for accuracy.

Leave your comments, I appreciate it.

That was very good. Nice, consistent strumming and you seemed to hit the individual notes correctly. I am impressed that you were able to do it so well without looking to makes sure you hit the correct strings. Well done.

Super accurate note picking and strumming there Kyrylo along with a steady rhythm throughout. You really caught the Johnny Cash vibe! Well done.
Something not quite right with the vocal though. I got the feeling you were singing in a different key to your guitar play.

When I just recorded the song I thought the singing is quite ok and directed more attention to how I act in camera. Only now I realize it requires a bit more work on singing, where I usually underpractise.

I carry the idea to take some vocal lessons with a local teacher for some time, but haven’t realised it yet. It may cost not too much money, but deliver worth result.

That’s the power of community, Thanks @sairfingers for your comment.

Good recording Kyrylo. Guitar playing great. I’m not sure its the vocal being in the wrong key but the melody differing from the original.

I’m jealous of your guitar playing-
Bravo!
It’s fun to sing and adds an extra dimension  Although this is a guitar learning site, many songs would be ultra boring if you just played the guitar parts of the whole song.

You don’t need singing lessons. There is so much low-hanging fruit to be had with a little attention.
You are lucky to be able to naturally sing in tune
but you still have to know the tune
Go back and listen to the original, and try to sing what Cash is singing. It’s worth transcribing the vocal melody, so you have the correct notes (slow it down if you need to). At the end of each verse (I walk the line…) you sing a different melody. You’re still in the right key, but not what we’re used to, so it sounds a bit ‘off’.
Also note that cash changes the register and the second and fourth verses start from a lower part of the scale. This adds variety to the song, making it less monotonous.
Good work.
Keep it up! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
