Impulse Buy

So for months I have been thinking about a travel size guitar as I spend a fair few months overseas each year. Not just for this but something that is easy to throw in the car and go down the beach of visiting or just sitting on the lounge.

So whilst up in Perth I went and had a play with a Cort Earth Mini and was overcome with a sudden impulse to just buy it :scream: And hey, if it doesn’t work out then I’ll sell it. And having paid relatively little for it if it gets damaged on the airline then its not the end of the world, (not that i’d be happy) but at least its not a $2,000 Mini Maton, :scream:

It comes with a pickup and onboard tuner and the pickup seems ok. It does feel a little bit Ukulele like

Now I’m chasing a SKB SC-300 travel case to put it in but living in WA can be challenging

Here’s a couple of picks, next to the Grand Auditorium Taylor.

I did not know Cort is making small guitars too. This one looks really great. Nice buy.
I got in my eye only Furch Little Jane and Pioneer, but LJ is much more expensive because of detachable neck and head.
I am gonna check your shared model. I wanna know as much as I can.

Hi Michal,

Yes I had looked online at the Furch LJ but ended up narrowing it down to the Cort CJ Mini, a Takamini and the one I ended up with. I would have preferred the CJ Mini but those are more the size of a Taylor GS Mini and I need to get it o board the aircraft when I travel so it had to be this one which matched the Martin LX and Mini Maton for size but of course without the price tag.

Congrats Craig
Have you performed the ā€˜Trio-test’ yet?

:rofl: actually I did have it plugged in to the amp and also tried it out on the Trio+ :+1:. Loving the Trio by the way. :+1:

Nice. I have a GS Mini and even though it’s marketed as a ā€œtravel guitarā€, I bought it because it’s a smaller bodied guitar that I just like to play. I enjoy the sound and it’s comfortable to hold.

Technically, my travel guitar is a carbon fiber Enya. It’s even less expensive than this. It doesn’t sound as nice, but I am also not afraid to take it backpacking in the woods with rain in the forecast. I’m considering taking it on the plane for my vacation in Hawaii next month, too. Though I also just learned of a place I can rent a guitar for a week at my destination, which is tempting. And I’m also thinking about looking for a baritone uke to purchase there. So I may not bring my travel guitar.
